Drove my car down to the gas/convenience store this morning to fill up, found regular is 1.37 a gallon.  A pleasant surprise I must say. That's in small town Kansas, how is it where you are?  Hoser  Wink

southern WI

« Reply #1 on: February 04, 2016, 07:12:38 AM »

was 1.629 just went down to 1.599 (1.569 cash) in southern WI area.

I never thought I'd have trouble putting 20 bucks into my truck, but darn if the last few times around or slightly below a 1/2 tank of gas I could ONLY cram 19 bucks into the tank.  Only thing that sucks is the local gas station who gives 3 cents off per gallon if paid in cash when I go to put my 20 bucks in the outside auto pay slot,  I have to go into the shop (if closed) and keep my receipt to get my 1.00 back from the owner of the gas staition another time.   When it was over 3 bucks per gallon, I would have NO problems putting in another 2-3 bucks AFTER the pump handle clicks off stating full, now hard to fill in another 1.00 in gas in the filler neck.    I can live with that though!  cooldude

Prior years on my VAlk I/S, I had no issues putting 10 bucks in the tank a few years ago.  Now,  I will never see 10 bucks of gas in a 6.9 gallon tank, better stock up on the one dollar bills?  With my 249cc scooter and 2.2 gallon tank,  all I need is 3 bucks tops, if that, and good to go another 120 miles.  3 bucks for 120 miles at 63 avg mpg is hard to beat.  Luckily,  have not ran out of gas on that thing since push the envelope way too much driving 120+ miles and only having .20 of a gallon left in the 2.2 gallon tank, although is easy to push home if need be I guess even if a few miles away/ unlike the Valk.  There, it is now Valk related topic?   Grin

Technically, with the current price of oil per barrel, it should probably be even cheaper.
But, I'll take it. This is when I wish I had an old tanker truck, that I could fill up.
As an old fart, I remember buying gas in the 60's for .13 a gallon. But, I think that was a gas war situation.

Keep in mind that 10% of each gallon is ethanol, which costs a lot more to manufacture than gasoline given the current oil prices.  In a free market we'd be buying pure gasoline and paying even less.

Even though oil producers are hurting a lot right now, the refiners are doing better with such a low crude price.  That helps the big integrated companies minimize their losses slightly.

I have no idea what the price of gas or diesel is, I pull in and fill it up.   I'm a consumer, I can not control the price so, I don't worry about it, I just reach into my wallet and pay.

The foul man wants to tax every barrel of imported oil $10. If the Republicans let this happen it will show they are all scum.

This will drive up pump prices and the cost of many other things. oil companies will pass this on to the consumer.

For those who will blindly say it can't be true here's a report from CNN .

You can always ride up here and fill up at 1.03 per Litre...that's a cool 3.89 per US gallon. Mind you, your buck is worth 1.38 here now so that would only make it only about 2.82/gallon...such a deal!!!  Wink

1.43 here in Ohio today.  As others have stated, it was on radio news today that Shemp II wants 10 dollars per barrel tax ( progressive libs, socialist, commies, take your pic,  like taxes better than sex ).  Yup he wants to build a clean energy program, radio did not specify.  This from the guy that could not build a lincoln log cabin.

Here in South Mississippi....134.9! Left for South Florida trip last week; Kept getting higher and higher throughout Alabama, and Florida. Think I paid 209.9 South of Tampa. No excuse for that variance in gas prices! Came back the next day to 134.9!! Go figure.

Ironic you mention that............seems like this one particular guy that has been hanging out at  1600 Pennsylvania Ave since 2008 is proposing to add $10 per barrel tax.

Think about it, gasoline is now cheaper than beer, milk, even bottled water!

Considering that it must be pumped out of the ground or from deep below the ocean, transported in billion dollar pipelines and/or tankers, refined from gooey crude to a usable liquid, then transported in very expensive trucks to your local gas station, it could be the best bargain on the planet.
