Anybody know?......where can I find the rules for if I can put a holster in the outside of the console in my car or on my Valk say on top of the tank on the inside of the fairing.
Guy at the local gunshop says either is legal but I can't find it in writing.

Rules for concealed carry in SC.......When in a vehicle if the weapon is not on your person AND concealed it must be in a CLOSED compartment......It does not have to be locked or lockable just enclosed. That same rule applies to people without conceal carry permits in a vehicle.

This was my understanding as well. However, the officer that taught the CWP class my dauughter was in 2 weeks ago told those in attendance, that the law just changed allowing a holster to be placed between the console and the seat of a vehicle. If I don't see it in writing somewhere I ain't gonna do it........as much as I would like to.

thx

The funny thing about that, according to the lady that taught the CWP class I took, is that
the "closed container" can be a zip lock baggie...

True dat.....Can be in any container....backpack, brief case or toolbox..... As long as it's closed......If in fact that has changed as Spidyj says I agree with him........DON'T DO IT until it's seen in writing.   cooldude

Found this....Copy and paste. If it has changed it has not been changed on SLED's web page.

(a) secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle; however, this item is not violated if the glove compartment, console, or trunk is opened in the presence of a law enforcement officer for the sole purpose of retrieving a driver's license, registration, or proof of insurance. If the person has been issued a concealed weapon permit pursuant to Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23, then the person also may secure his weapon under a seat in a vehicle, or in any open or closed storage compartment within the vehicle's passenger compartment; or

 (b) concealed on or about his person, and he has a valid concealed weapons permit pursuant to the provisions of Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23;

And for Motorcycles....

(16) Any person on a motorcycle when the pistol is secured in a closed saddlebag or other similar closed accessory container attached, whether permanently or temporarily, to the motorcycle.
