She will be fine Carl!  But like Cookie said, it is your turn. Good thoughts coming your way, take good care of her.

Prayers here too.

Just try to live in the Present. Don't dwell on it. I've been there, and done that. No amount of forethought or worrying will change squat!

Please, just keep us informed. We do all really care, and wish you and your family all the best.

Carl, we wish Lori a very speedy recovery. Take it easy and when things may be stressful, remember to slow down a bit and breathe deep.
Best wishes

She has now been through all the tests and preparation they have intended and the surgeon has scheduled her for surgery on Thursday with a planned release from the hospital on Friday.

I know your #1 priority is taking care of her, but if you get a minute, can we get an update?

Thanks!

Mama went into surgery at a little after three thirty this afternoon.  They had her back in her upstairs room at a little after seven o'clock.  She was still very drowsy from the anesthesia when I last saw her.  The surgery was done with five small incisions and the doctor believes it was very successful.  He believes the best components of her rapid recovery is movement including walking as as soon as possible and breathing deeply intentionally.  There is a possibility she will be released to come home tomorrow.

The surgeon and I discussed her situation and some of life.  He has eight children.  I have eight children.  His oldest is twenty-two.  My youngest is twenty-five.  He used to ride.  I think he's a good surgeon.  He thinks I'm a bit ignorant to continue to ride after my two relatively recent experiences.

I discussed Lori's situation with the surgical nurse.  Maybe she was a recovery nurse.  The nurse advised we should not have sex until after Lori leaves the hospital.  Lori's mother and sister get a bit embarrassed around me.

Glad to hear of the positive outcome of the surgery; please keep us advised of any instances after Lori leaves the hospital. These new-fangled vehicles are definitely not as accommodating as those of the 50's & 60's were. Please get home in one piece. Or as many as can be tolerated.  Evil  Grin  Roll Eyes

Glad the surgery is over and it sounds like she's going to be fine.   Good news.

In reference to the doc, I'd seek a second opinion, maybe he should also.  Wink

Eight?    Hmm.   One would assume her mother and sister know how that occurred.  Lips Sealed

He thinks I'm a bit ignorant to continue to ride after my two relatively recent experiences.

Carolyn rides horses and I ride motorcycles. She left to go riding this morning, I
told her to come home safe and have fun. We try to do both of those things each
time out. Riding horses and motorcycles and having fun and fellowshipping with
others who feel the same way seem valuable to me... not ignorant...

I'm glad Lori's non motorcycle related operation went well  cooldude

Ha ha!  Someday you and I will have to discuss my appreciation for and personal opinion of the value of doctors' opinions in general.  I've only had one doctor kiss me.  I hold that one in high esteem.  The rest I consider valuable only within the context of their own expertise.

The word (ignorant) probably came up because I used it first and he did relay it in a joking manner.  Mostly, I think it was to justify his own decision to give up the ride and that more to himself than to me.  He was younger than I and therefore not as smart, but he did seem to be a very skilled surgeon.

As to the other joking comments that I may have made it's my way of dealing with life at times.  Honestly, at my age and experience the sexual act itself is really not that important to me but the occasional embrace and caress is more meaningful than I could possibly express.  I do greatly enjoy watching some embarrassed folks attempt the articulating dance.   Wink

Lori seems to be doing well this morning.  The doctor dictated it would likely be late today or tomorrow for release.  Her preference is tomorrow.   Do you think she's just not that anxious to get back home with me?

I am still in the hospital and taking it one day at a time.  Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.  Each day, the doctor tells me,"not today, maybe tomorrow" and I am ok with that.  I am having a few challenges adjusting to eating food again.  I am on a full liquid diet right now and I am ok with taking it slow.  I surely don't want to mess anything up!

Thank you all for thinking of me!!

OH yeah and just to ensure I don't forget, Happy Birthday on Monday morning Carl.
