I think that Trump would be the reset switch.  That 4 years of a Trump administration would end up in a great statemate/gridlock (same as now) or, if he's half as good as he boasts about, a time of renewal.  Either way, I don't see him running for re-election.  Having to play by the rules (laws) would cease to be fun for Trump for too long.

But Trump has a phone and pen and he will use them. Sound familiar? I am not sure why people think he would be an improvement over what we have at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue now, but as P.T. Barnum proved, there is a sucker born every minute. Sadly, some of them learned to vote.

Correction: Let's also not forget to thank those forgetfools who voted in the two term turd sandwich previous to the most recent one that put us so far down the rabbit hole that finding the top again will take us another generation to recover from these Afghani/Iraqi fun and games...and their aftermath. Anyone remember a little conflict and 25 years of it's aftermath called Vietnam?.  I do.

Bush whacked...twice...thank God we won't have a third one in the White House.
We do have an opportunity to elect a morph of Mussolini and Hitler, but hope is still alive somewhere in our future that the intelligent citizens of the country will send Donald Drumpf back to the concrete canyons of New Yawk where his black heart and phony businesses belong. Wink

Vote Republican if that is where your convictions lead you, but make sure it's a real Republican, please!

Pretty plain that the Liberals are deathly afraid of The Donald.  Why he might even set back their agenda a few years. Not forever of course because they never give up on it no matter how many times it is proven detrimental to achieving anything but a slide into chaos.

I imagine I am one you would classify as a "Liberal". As far as politics goes to me he would be the easiest guy for the Democrats to beat. So "deathly afraid" not so much. But if you ask me is he good for our country I would say no. And after all that's what I m concerned with.

I am not AT ALL thrilled with the idea of Trump for president, but I'd vote for the hemorrhoid on Saddam Hussein's rotten corpse if it was running against Hillary... So I guess Trump can't be much worse than that.

"If this happens we all lose". I have a different take on it.
Scenario 1) Trump wins the nomination and loses the the election to Clinton.
Scenario 2) It goes to a contested convention. Kasich is nominated. Goes on to beat Clinton.

I prefer scenario 2, admittedly a HUGE longshot.

There's a third scenario:

The antics of the Republican Party, including the incomprehensible refusal to even hold confirmation hearings will result in lost down-ballot races resulting in loss the House and/or the Senate and Hillary will nominate her choice for confirmation by a Democratic Senate.

Although I admit to some Democratic leanings, the mere thought of a Democratic President coupled with a Democratic House and Senate scares the heaven out of me.

I have a large staff of Maintenance and Janitorial workers and I joined them in the break room the other day. This is largely a group that could each vote on either side. After much very intersting talk where I did not say much moreover listened, the end result from them was they really wish there was a reset button here that would wipe all canadates out on both sides and start with new ones. They feel that both parties could do so much better in bringing canadates to the table. You know, I agree.  Wow, how did we get here?

You see, that's just it.  The progressives have swung so far left that they are back to acknowledging a monarchy.  For so long now I've been hearing "It's her turn"  "She deserves it".

We had a revolution and declared ourselves our own country based on liberty and freedom which was supposed to be protected by a gov't made up of local representatives.  But it's "her turn".

And one of the candidates already used the reset button in her dealings with Putin.  Guess it didn't work.

The first amendment protects you from the GOVERNMENT censoring your speech, not the public.

The Trumpkin protesters are protected by the First Ammendment, the same as the pro-Trumpkins' right to assemble. The democratic socialist party has been trying for the last 7 years to start limiting our Constitutional liberties and now we have a republican doing the same.

Two side of the same coin and some seem blinded by the shine.

There will never be a conservative president until we whittle the number of people on government support down to a manageable number.
So, a slightly right candidate is the best to hope for right now. Someone that can get that number down to something that can be controlled.

Be a spoiler and force a contested convention, driving Trump to run 3rd party, bringing in a thousand years of darkness, er, I mean a Hillary presidency, or split the non-Trump primary vote up and help keep Trump the front runner, also most likely bringing about the end of civilization, er, I mean a Hillary presidency.

You know, FWIW, I bet you that if modern conservatives were as strongly concerned about whittling the number of corporate interests on government support as much as they were worried about whittling the number of individuals on government support, there would be a line of voters beating a path to their door.

The military industrial complex, combined with local, state and federal-level corporate "benefits" (tax deductions, tax loopholes, tax writedowns, subsidies, legal  exclusions and other benefits) combined, make up more than what we spend on non-recuperately taxed financed social services (Social Security is NOT an 'entitlement" because you must pay in during your working life to receive paybacks later, and paybacks are based upon pay-in)

No, don't you remember, I had a custom Hillary sticker printed up for my Valk...

If it comes down to Trump vs. Hillary, I'll take a massive dose of Zofran, bring an air sickness bag anyway, punch myself in the face a few times and vote for Trump. But I won't be happy about it.
