Absolutely a timeless classic...funny how we hear a song like this in our younger days and it's just a cool song, and then in our late 50's, 60's etc it takes on a whole new meaning.

Very good song... (And 1971 was a GREAT vintage!)

Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! We have many early N Y  CD's.  In 92 he put out an album called harvest moon, for music created 20 years later it sounds like his 70s flavor.

You know, back when then, the words in their songs had true meaning and the music truly came from the heart. Today the words seem strategic, and the songs are based on Ch Ching Ch Ching melody, the sound of a cash register.  It is truly sad that the young people of today will never a truly experience as we did. They can only feel the ghost echo's of the past remnants of those musicians past.

+1 I've been a fan of Neil Young and CSNY for decades. That song had a whole different meaning to me as a teenager than it does now as an old man. But it's just as good now as it was then. As an aside Neil Youngs song Southern Man was a great song also. It was not a slam on them, it was a message. "Better heed what your good book says".  coolsmiley

Yeah Meat you see it one way we see it another.  coolsmiley
Listen to the song it talks of slavery which we all know there was as much or more in the Northern sates.  Oh wait the History books didn't teach us those facts did they.

Evidently we get two different messages out of it. But not surprising at all. Undecided

I watched another youtube video of this Neil Young song vs. when he was in his 20's and long hair vs. guessing in his late 60's and singing it in 1998 on another youtube video.  He still has his voice some near 30-40 years later.

He's not aging very well - looks like forty miles of bad road. Life on the road is hard.
