http://www.calgarysun.com/2016/05/26/ambassador-kevin-vickers-who-shot-parliament-hill-terrorist-michael-zehaf-bibeau-tackles-protester-in-irelandJust because he's an ambassador now doesn't mean former sergeant-in-arms Kevin Vickers can't still kick ass. During a ceremony in Dublin to commemorate British soldiers who died in 1916, the terrorist-killing hero tackled and hauled off a protester who tried to burst in and disrupt the ceremony.
Irish media said the protester in his 40s rushed toward the wreath-laying for British soldiers who died in the Easter Rebellion. He was screaming: “This is a disgrace!” as the colour party marched forward.
That’s when Vickers stepped into his path and took him down.
“He was tackled by somebody and it was only after that I realized it was the Canadian ambassador,” an unnamed witness told the Irish Independent.
“The whole thing lasted about a minute. The Canadian ambassador grabbed him, there was a struggle and gardai (the police) wrestled him to the ground.”
A video shows the 59-year-old Vickers having little problem pulling the black-leather-clad bald protester away from the crowd and to the ground.
As sergeant-in-arms, Vickers heroically shot gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau when he stormed Parliament Hill in 2014. He was later promoted to ambassador to Ireland.
The protester faces charges for public disorder.
A spokesman for Vickers did not comment to Irish media.
