SCRC (Southern Cruisers Riders Club) has chapters all over the country (not just the south). I have ridden with two different chapters here in VA. I do not join, and explain I will not attend meetings or become part of the bureaucracy (they don't expect you to attend each monthly meeting, but if you join, they expect you to attend some). But I show up and ride with them, off and on for years, and they are mostly small groups of good riders and I get no BS or hard sell. As usual, many are Hogs, and I have kicked in my tools and limited skills to fix their bikes (mostly just bolting parts back on). Like other groups, it is often characterized as....
Ride to Eat, Eat to Ride, and that's OK too (Although if they hit a place that's going to take an hour and a half to order and eat, I often motor on. My goal is always riding, not eating.)
Look for local chapters and hook up for a ride or two. Some chapters are better than others.
