Lieutenant General William "Jerry" Boykin, USA, Ret. at Family Research Council.
16 hrs · Washington ·

As you know by now, Fort Riley Kansas and the 1st Infantry Division have cancelled the Division Prayer Breakfast where I was speaking on June 6th and disinvited me to speak at the event.

This is a result of objections by an extremely ‪#‎leftist‬, anti-Christian group which has a long history of trying to suppress the ‪#‎Christian‬ message and subvert the ‪#‎FirstAmendment‬ of the U.S. ‪#‎Constitution‬. What is really important about this is that the leadership of Fort Riley caved to pressure by these extremists and denied every person who planned to attend this event their own First Amendment rights.

I am told that there were many people who planned to attend and that 80 percent of the soldiers at the Fort self-identify as Christian. Attendance was totally voluntary, and no one was compelled to be there.

‪#‎Military‬ leaders today lack moral ‪#‎courage‬ and seem to have forgotten what the constitution really stands for. They run from a fight at every turn and subvert the very freedoms that they are sworn to defend. I for one am disgusted.

On the other hand, look at the image & video below to see the Fort Riley leadership in action. This is a great example of President Obama’s military. Under the approval of his Commander, the Ft. Riley Garrison Commander endorses and promotes a DIVA DASH in a video on the Official Facebook page for Ft. Riley, dressed like this: https://twitter.com/GenBoykin/status/738467812360982529

[You can see the video it's from here:

So, this is how the Garrison Commander can present himself under the supervision of his Commander, but me speaking at a voluntary prayer breakfast and sharing Judeo-Christian values must censored?

How can we expect to win wars with a military like this gripped by such political correctness? If there are people who are scared of me, what does that say about how the 1st Infantry Division would fare against ‪#‎ISIS‬ or any other determined enemy?

Well, the truth is that I think that this is a fine division with a tremendous combat record going back 99 years. They are great ‪#‎warriors‬ but they are caught in a conundrum because the focus of the military leaders today is very skewed toward supporting the ‪#‎Obama‬ agenda and being politically correct in all that is said and done.

The focus should be on readiness and protecting the liberties of the service members. Where are the warriors in the military today?

For a good perspective on why I ask this question, please do the following: Watch the video of Admiral Jeremiah Denton when he made a statement on camera from the Hanoi Hilton prison in North Viet Nam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYvPI84wVUg

This statement was made after months of torture. During the statement, he blinked in Morse code the word T-O-R-T-U-R-E. Then watch the video from January 2016 of a 2011 Naval Academy grad who was being held by the Iranians. Within hours of capture, he was on camera apologizing to the Iranians and thanking them for their hospitality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2Da-CxydLU

It says more than I can in a thousand words.

Capitulating to secularist groups to stop soldiers from hearing Christian voices and views does a disservice to the men and women who serve our country. What’s more, canceling the prayer event interferes with soldiers' rights to voluntarily assemble and practice their faith.

The Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. Wayne Grigsby, should apologize to the soldiers of Fort Riley and assure them that the leadership of Fort Riley will stand up to the anti-religious freedom agitators and defend their rights of assembly and the right to believe and live out their faith.

These soldiers fight to defend our freedoms. Now it's time you help defend theirs.

CALL Fort Riley community relations office at (785) 239-8851 or (785) 239-2022

POST on the Official Fort Riley Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FortRiley/

TWEET at the Commanding General @Danger6_1ID or POST on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/1IDdanger6/

We must get a new Commander-in-Chief soon who will find military leaders who understand their sworn obligation and who have the courage to protect the rights of ALL their soldiers.
