I'm looking for something in the $90-130 range considering these two.
Dunlop D404 150/80-17 for $95.34 from Bike Bandit Avon AV72 Cobra 150/80-17 for $124.09 also Bike Bandit
Dennis Kirk seemed higher priced. The only tire comparison I had was Dunlop Elite 3 for $174.88 on DK and $141.95 on BB.
Cruiser Customizing was same price as BB.

I personally don't like Dunlops. My favorite front now is actually a rear. Michelin Pilot Activ 150/70/17. I think I've been paying about $145.

I couldn't find that D404 in 17" for $95.34 at Bike Bandit, but did find a 16" at that price.
Which tire are you replacing?
As far as recommendations go, I've used the REAR D404 130/90/17 on the FRONT and it preformed excellent. Got over 12K on the first and installed a second. Didn't need to replace it, it had some tread left, but I wanted to do it in the winter down time, not during riding season. It is a Bias tire.
Put one on one of my other Valks as well.
Also, I install them reverse.

I really loved the Bridgestone Exedra Max which is a 200 series MC tire (rear tire) terrific grip in wet and dry weather,
Paid around 145 delivered.
Have tried Metzlers and Avons as well. Not so fond of the E3 on it now but they seem to last well.
YMMV of course There have been hundreds of tire threads search is your friend here

I might give that one a try next time I need a front.

Whatever tire you decide on, try finding it on Amazon (generally free shipping) for best price. The way Amazon works, you may actually be getting it from the Superstore (or other mainstream seller), but for a better price than they sell direct. If shopping the other guys, go to cart and find out what shipping is to get the real price.

I was really impressed with BB. Their tire (front) arrived within 36 hours from when I ordered it. WOW! Total of $103 for the Dunlop.
Hook, what do you mean you install them reversed?

Yes, it rides much better with tires, the round rubber kind!

avon cobra rear tire is on sale at jakewilson.com for 120 bucks. Won't find it any cheaper, but my last one only lasted 10K miles or so, which is about typical mileage I guess with front tires lasting 15K or so.
I can't see the sense in paying over 180 bucks on up over to 200 bucks for a dunlop elite III or Metzeler ME880 if they do not last much longer, if any.

I would be riding on a car tire if I only got 10K on a M/C tire!

I would be riding on a car tire if I only got 10K on a M/C tire!Only got 8-9K (good miles) with my ME880s. Thus, the car tire. And never going back. With 35K per car tire (all good miles), I might go back if they could make a MC tire that sticks like glue and goes say 25K, but I'm not holding my breath.
