...how it should have ended... Cute, and why am I not surprised? What would you have them do to the Republicans that have constantly obstructed for the last 7 years? It doesn't really matter for much longer. It looks more and more like the right is going to lose the House and/or Senate.

Why didn't the Democrats pass a bill during the period they were in control of the house and senate and Presidency????????????
Why did they decide to wait??????????
More political gain through drip, drip, drip.
Y'all do know that more people are killed with hands, feet etc EVERY YEAR than with those nasty scary black guns???
But where are the hypocrites calling for a ban on those parts of the human body?
Y'all do know that more people are killed EVERY YEAR with blunt objects than with those nasty scary black guns???
But where are the hypocrites calling for a ban on those blunt objects?
Y'all do know that more people are killed EVERY YEAR with knives and other cutting weapons than with those nasty scary black guns???
But where are the hypocrites calling for a ban on those cutting sharp weapons???
Do you still believe that the politicians aren't trying to use your personal fear for their political gain?

There's already a ban on some knives.
Do you know the exception for the ban on switchblades?
(The law was on the books long before the concept of auto knives came along)

No ban on owning or buying a switchblade here just illegal to carry. That is why they call them assisted openers now.

They're just doing what democrats do I guess, in this case, that means DOING THE PUBLIC'S BUSINESS. In case you missed the TRUTH - and, as always, you people do - they are asking for a VOTE. Not the approval of the bill, just the vote on the bill. That's right: the Democrats, on this occasion, are actually - GASP!! - ASKING CONGRESS TO DO ITS JOB. NOT push something under the table because some special interest group has them in their back pocket and insists that the public's representatives ignore the issue completely. Just: get up on their feet, walk to their positions in Congress, sit down and VOTE. If the Republicans would VOTE, either YES or NO, then this entire thing would be over. But notice that the Republicans don't even WANT to vote. They don't want to do their job and vote on a legislative bill currently up for debate. And, therefore, the Democrats get the opportunity, the opening, to do this "stunt" that you abhor. So rather than question "Why won't my Congress do what they are paid for?", you're saying "Yeah, they shouldn't do their job, how DARE the Democrats stage a sit-in and demand an actual VOTE? GAH!" I agree. Most people are fools. I will quote Arnold in the first expendables . dinosnake "you should read more" . That bill was ALREADY voted on and FAILED......TWICE.... Roadog

Until we fully legalized them for everyone a few years ago here in The Republic, you could legally own and carry a "switchblade" if you had only one arm.

This was an old law (I cannot recall from where), and I always thought the one armed exception was better work than we usually get from legislators.

...how it should have ended... Doesnt seem very libertarian to me. Respect for property rights is part and parcel to libertarian. They were illegally occupying space that didn't have the right to be in, and should be treated appropriately doing whatever is necessary to remove the illegal invaders.

Trump tweeted after his helicopter landed at his Turnberry golf course a day after the so-called "Brexit" vote. "Place is going wild over the vote. They took their country back, just like we will take America back." just like we will take America back." just like we will take America back."

Baldo you strike me as open to some reason and understanding.
Let me ask you why does president Obama and most of the Democrats and people such as yourself endorse Hillary knowing that the report from the long-awaited report by the Office of the Inspector General at Foggy Bottom can be fairly termed scathing and, it leaves no doubt that Hillary Clinton systematically dodged a raft of laws and regulations on the keeping of Federal records and the handling of classified information. Worse, the IG report leaves no doubt that Clinton has lied profligately about EmailGate from the moment the scandal broke over a year ago. That the FBI is still in a criminal investigation of this and yet you and current administration who want to see criminals prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law can over look this and endorse a criminal for president?
Dont you see something wrong in the running of a government where lawlessness among these elite as being ok. Yet people are prosecuted for the smallest of offense? What happened to morals of those running the country? Do you really think that if the ones running the country are lawless that they will give a dam about you?

Robert, First, thanks for a reasonable post. My answer is mixed. First of all, and I'll say it again. I'm not now and never have been a fan of Hillary. I don't trust her corporate ties, and she carries more baggage than my wife and daughter on vacation. But, because of the system we have in place, ans having that buffoon Trump as the alternative, I'll pull that lever for her. As far as all the noise about the email scandal, I honestly don't know what to think. There's been so much noise, from both sides, that I really don't know what the truth is. The right wants her head on a stick, no surprise there. But it wouldn't be the first time they were wrong. Having said that, she has to be the most investigated person on the planet right now, besides Obama. And look what that's produced...My feeling, without spending a lot more time researching than I currently have available, is that if she's as dirty as people want her to be, there would have been some solid evidence, some smoking gun that would have nailed her to the wall. But then again, Bush and Cheney are still walking free. See, that's where I am regarding her. I'm a mixed bag. I suppose we'll have to take a wait and see attitude. I can already hear it being said that she's getting a free pass from Obama and DOJ. Who knows, maybe there's some truth to that. One thing that I've learned in the last few election cycles is that things that I never would have believed could happen, actually happen pretty regularly. I guess that just comes with getting a bit older and the naivete has had a chance to wear away a little. My hope is that if she's elected, (I can't even imagine what would have to happen for Trump to win), that I and many others will be pleasantly surprised. Not that I think 99% of the posters here on this board will be... Anyway, that's about where I stand on the issue. I hope I've answered your question. Bob

Bob I dont really know if you liked the changes in the country in the last 7 years but if you have not and Hillary gets elected you do realize its going to be Obama on steroids? The other things I would answer is where there is smoke there is fire, This scandal is only a drop in the bucket for Hillary. This is not like business where you go to court type of thing but truly criminal investigations, and even the government that Hillary supposedly works for not only questioning her behavior but coming very close to trying to put her in a place she deserves Jail. I may be able to excuse one scandal as you pointed out and I agree with, but when its systemic and comes on the heals of others going to jail for coming close to but not revealing state secrets and proving that Hillary Lied I cannot understand sweeping this under the rug. She signed a federal form and said and stated under oath that she kept things secret and the penalties for not doing so just as you or me signing any federal form and do not comply its a felony that is a fact. Im sure you know the extent of Hillarys problems and lack of being a good federal employee so I will not get into it but isnt a change at the top really needed if the cronies in Washington will turn a blind eye to the morals that you and me abide by? Why endorse the people of government that cannot prosecute those for the system of laws they established and promised to uphold? I ask all not only you Baldo we have a saying Lead by example If we look at Hillary, and Obama and even most of what we have in government today and we look at the country why do we question the problems we have. Why would anyone vote for Hillary and want others to follow her example of leadership? She has built nothing except wealth for herself at least Trump has given people jobs, has made the American dream by working, and has smartly financed his own campaing regardless if he lent it money. Who do you want to follow? More importantly, who would you like to be like?

I'm not now and never have been a fan of Hillary Why? Isn't she the poster child for the Dems? Hasn't she and her husband carried the Democratic battle flag for a couple of decades? But, because of the system we have in place, ans having that buffoon Trump as the alternative, I'll pull that lever for her. buf·foon bəˈfo͞on/Submit noun a ridiculous but amusing person; a clown. synonyms: clown, jester, fool, comic, comedian, wag, wit, merry andrew, harlequin, I'd rather a buffoon, as opposed to a lie spiting, poor example, of what America has to offer. Kinda seems like we've had a buffoon for the last two terms. And look, he aspires to being a NBA team owner.

I deal with the public on a daily basis, Kentucky is a predominately Dem State so, I think it's safe to say that most of the folks I talk to are Dems. Yes, we talk politics. Having said that, what I hear is, most are afraid of Trump because he's going to cut off all the "free" stuff and support and take things away. Where Hilary is going to make the "other" guy pay for more. Honestly, the Dems could be considered the smarter side if, they could only figure out how to pay for all that "free" stuff and not put us further into debt or bankrupt the system. So far, the system is failing, personal responsibility has been flushed. This is not going to end well.

We are dealing with this by the unrestricted printing of money by the Federal Reserve which in effect makes each one of us pay more by the devaluation of the dollar on all we buy. This further brings the middle class who gets hit the hardest to fall into even more debt. As all the prices for every commodity from food to chemicals cost more and if you look most household chemicals rather than raising prices is actually making smaller quantities of the same stuff. If we would get rid of the reserve or tax at .006 percent we would not have a national debt and may actually be able to have all the free stuff for everyone fairly across the board.

Yet Trump wants to add a 45% tariff on imports from China making gods more expensive to the consumer. That alone would be a disaster. Trump says outrageous things he thinks the base wants to hear, just like Hillary. The only difference is, Hillary does it better and makes her BS sound....almost.... believable. They both count on voters being "uninformed". Notice, I avoided the word stupid They're both FOS

Doesn't matter we all know how willingly uninformed so many voters are in this country. BOTH SIDES of the political house.

On the latest national report from the FBI, 75% of homicides were committed with a firearm. The percentage had dipped to 67% in 2011, but is back up in recent years. I'm not sure where you're getting those numbers from, but somebody made it up to make a point.

"Scary Black Guns" usually means AR15 rifles. In 2014 there were a total of 248 murders committed with a rifle of any type.

You are quoting all firearms I used "nasty scary black guns" eg rifle. FBI report from 2009 - 2013. Couldn't find any newer numbers. Don't think the FBI "made it up".

The figures quoted earlier were all deaths by any cause, not just homicides (intentional killings).
Now take the total homicides by firearm, and subtract all homicides by criminal on criminal in all the big cities (and elsewhere), nearly all of which are committed with firearms which were already illegal when purchased illegally/stolen and used. The biggest cities alone (collectively) likely account for a lion's share of total firearm homicides. And of course, all these cities have much stricter gun laws than the rest of the normal country has (which clearly aren't slowing anybody down). So how will leaning on honest harry homeowner about his perfectly legal guns help at all??????
And relatively few are with ARs.

I agree. Most people are fools.
We are in complete agreement. Apparently that rather large majority may indeed include you and me.
