Hello All, we got this notice yesterday from Sports Authority. I looked through their website to see we may want. Like the ad says most of the stuff has good discounts, like UnderArmor shirts for summer and winter. only thing is all sales are final.

I wouldn't buy my last beer from them.

After they announced their closing they were still advertising jobs across the country.

No, not temp jobs for the closing sale but real full time jobs.

it's not unusual for businesses that have announced closings to loose people who go out looking for other jobs and it's not unusual for the higher paid people to be let go to bring in others at a lower salary to fill in those lost slots. Depending on the location of the actual individual store, it could remain busy throughout the bankruptcy and closings, people will make money and contribute to their S.S. even if a small amount.

I understand your position though, there are several companies we as a family refuse to do business with for one reason or another.

I was just trying to let people know there was some money to be saved if they wanted or needed anything for themselves, their kids or grandkids, there are some good buys on the website, at least for some of the stuff I looked at.

A friend went to buy something (I forget what) that he'd been looking at for a little while. When he went to take advantage of the sale, he found it $5 less than what it was for sale for earlier. And it had a 30% off tag on it....

The old mark it up to mark it down trick.....Buyer beware!

The liquidation is being handled by a third party and not directly by Sports Authority themselves; you'll pay their percentage in the price and so no real deals look to be coming soon.
There were a few reported by walk-in customers when it began in Denver about a month ago. Cry

So your friend went shopping for a specific item, let's just say it was originally tagged at $100.00. When he went to the store the first time it was marked down to $70.00 but your friend did not make the purchase. He then returned a second time only to find the price another $5.00 cheaper ($65.00) and you're saying that's a bad thing? On a $100.00 item that's a 35% discount. Stores that have had sales have been know to further mark down items which have been previously discounted. I've found many items at Home Depot this way, usually on items which will not be restocked. I don't see the issue, your friend saved money by returning a second time.

We've been shopping at S.A. for many years for soccer gear and I know their prices in the store, which was typically close to Dick's prices. Right now there is Under Armor for $20 or less, items which we probably have bought if the kids needed them. A few weeks (when the sale discounts were less) ago I bought sneakers for $45.00 which use to sell for $65. So I'm not sure where the issue is.

No, maybe I didn't explain it well. Using your example, the previously $100 item was being sold during the sale, for $95. Tag marked at $130, knocked down to $95.  Not cool.
