Rob, here is the link Pappy posted months back on those long sleeve fishing shirts.

I have a Cabela's (more bells and whistles and more expensive) and it's great in the heat/sun.

I forgot about it till you asked.

Some of the colors are pretty gay (as in happy).  Feather gray looks good for the desert.

Do you know if their sizing is right on or does it pay to go a size larger or smaller; shrinkage over time?
Website says they are having a 40% off sale this weekend and free shipping with $50 purchase!
Thank you.

I don't know.  Have not ordered, but intend to.

My Cabela's fishing shirt is generously cut and the link pics also look generously cut (like a sweatshirt).  Loose is good for hot, but if you leave untucked, it will fly up your belly (but sleeves may fly up your wrists/sumburn).  I also think the material is just a bit stretchy (polyester).

Thanks for the heads up on the sale.

It's Africa Hot here at the RNR....too much traffic and stop and go.....bikes been in the garage for a few weeks now since the hot light came on while stuck in BB traffic.  Gotta check the fan....i dint hear it running.
Still won't ride in the heat of the day though...I'll wait till after 6 pm.

That fan blowing on my Gonads is just too much to take.  crazy2 crazy2

Guess I'm jus' used to it. Lived here in the valley all my life.
It's nothin' for it to be 90° here by noon with 100% humidity.
Course, I'll go ridin' in a monsoon too so....¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My first time back in the saddle after our wreck, my Brother LawDog had left his Valky in my driveway. I'd been staring at it for 3 days. When I finally decided to ride it, was pouring down rain! Didn't go 3 miles 'for it ran outta gas! (My Brother thought it was funny as H3LL.)
"Welcome back" he said!

I came back from San Diego today in a Subaru. Dash Temp hit 117 when we hit PHX. Oh yea: it was very low humidity. You don't know what a blast furnace is Mr. OSS.

2funny Thanks Jess. Gray will be fine. I could be considered a miserable bastard, not even close to happy.  Grin

They have all the standard colors as well. Black, white,  yellow, olive drab green, gray, blue, etc.
I have gotten to the point where my 100% cotton shirts languish in the closet.

The SW desert is no fun during Summer months.  I don't ride much these days.  I did just get back from a trip to the California coast.  Needed to cross the Mojave Desert twice.

I used a product called "Heat Out".  Form fitting shirt that wicks moisture away under a mesh jacket.  The evaporative vest might've been even better, but with heat approaching 110, sweat evaporating from the Heat Out under mesh worked amazingly well.  I'm pretty sure it would not be so nice in traffic, but on the highway, it made the desert crossing bearable.

My perfect riding temperature is something between ninety and ninety-five degrees (F).  I can ride above one hundred but it is warm.  I don't know how well I would manage living someplace that was one hundred fifteen or more.

I don't really like air conditioning a lot.  I think one of the reasons our forefathers conquered the west was because they hadn't been ruined by a dependency on cold air.

I rode a bit at lunch time.  It was high eighties, a little cool but I managed.

Oh, humidity.  I grew up in the suburbs of Oklahoma City.  Today I live in the suburbs of Kansas City.  Sometimes I wonder what you all are talking about when you complain of the humidity.   Wink

The only way riding in the mid 90's range can be enjoyable is with low humidity.  I just got in from a ride...92 degrees with a lower than normal humidity for us...46 percent.  I had a good ride but it was the limit for being enjoyable for me.  Any hotter or more humidity and I would have been in the truck.

I LOVE riding in the heat - as long as I'm MOVING and not sitting in traffic (especially over black asphlat) . Since most of my riding is back and forth to work, I have to dress somewhat business casual - but when I'm riding in the summer heat we've been having - I wear long sleeves (to keep the sun and wind off my arms). upper 90's with heat index to 105+ is a bit "WARM" but not intolerable. I strip the shirt off when I get home to cool down, and I usually plan on a swim before bed.

Hate cold - I usually quit riding when it drops below 50 and for sure below 45 now.

Grew up on the Great plains of central kansas - heat (and cold) is a given....

Thanks to Pappy, I bought me 3 of those shirts.  Blue, of course, but they work great under my Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket.  It wasn't extremely hot on this trip to Inzane, but it sure was comfortable in these fishing shirts.

Thanks again, Pappy!

I sweat, but I ride, when the bike thermometer hits 110 and humidity is 95 percent it can get pretty bad. But thankfully when I'm cruising at 70 and looking around the heat doesn't seem to matter as much. At that speed its the sun mainly that will fry you. Maybe Rides instead being 6 to 8 hours may be 3 or 4 but to get some wind and ride is so worth it. Shorter rides translate into different routes and different scenery not so bad. Or another option is either early am then home or later in the afternoon when the sun is not so hot. Loose clothing that blocks the sun and plenty of water makes for a much more pleasant ride.

Yesterday got out pretty early went out for about 250 mile ride out along the Glades got lunch then home. Did some stuff around the house new faucet in the bathroom, planting, and a few other chores then dinner and bed, great day when the heat index was like 105 maybe 110.

I agree. We are battling 100 degree days now and I think it is lousy riding weather. Jeez it was 75 when I woke up yesterday at 6am. I like 60's as I can put on leather and slide gear and be very comfortable and a bit more safe. Jeez, a leather vest is a bit much right now. Come to think of it pants and underwear are a bit much. Maybe just a leather vest and nothing more would work.
I think riding is like fly fishing. When everyone starts, they have already missed the best. When everyone stops, they stopped before it gets really good. Between Labor day and Memorial day is good for fly fishing and motorcycle riding. Between Memorial Day and Labor day is great for ice tea and margaritas.
