I found an I.S. for 2 grand. Problem is, its been hydrolocked. What is the damage that can occur as a result. Bent this, broken that, and how expensive can it get? Would this be worth the purchase? Thanks.

Usually starter drive gear and maybe the rear case. You will also need to rebuild the carbs and rebuild or replace the fuel valve.  If the rest of the bike is good its worth it especially if you can do the work.

Starter, starter gear, ring gear ,gaskets ,some or all. Along with a fuel shut off valve or rebuild kit. Motor needs to come out or the rear of the bike removed. You may need a engin if a connecting rod was bent.

I would make sure a con rod didn't get bent. Not sure how to do that though!

2-300 bucks to fix it yourself. Or give me the info, I'll buy it, fix it and then resell it to you?  coolsmiley

Owner said it "rattled" after going to a mechanic whatever that discription means. There is a difference between a rattle and a hammer..He said he had run it afterwards several times but not recently.  It's worth looking into.  Need a winter project anyway.
