"On average, premiums have risen by about 5.8 percent a year since Obama took office, compared to 13.2 percent in the nine years before Obama. "

This is a quote from Politifact in regards to Trump saying that costs have increased 35-65% under Obama.
The Affordable Care Act is nowhere close to perfect. But in order for us to improve our healthcare in the USA we need to deal in facts.
Apples and oranges figures.
The fact is that non obamacare insurance increases are dramatically lower than obamacare increases.
Politifact has knowingly combined the figures so that obamacare does not get the blame it deserves.
An example - many non obamacare policies increases have been consistantly in the 3 to 5 percent range for the last 20 years.

Interesting. My medicar suppliment insurance has not increased for the last 3 yrs. It may have to do with the way Medicar controls the charges? Not saying i want goverment control on pricing but I do feel market compitision would do the same which O'bomicar won't allow in that arena of insurance.

I have no doubt some policies have went up and some have went down. In my opinion it needs to be taken as a whole to get an accurate picture of what has happened.

In order to get  true picture it needs to be divided into obamacare and non obamacare.

If the Federal G version of healthcare is a pure disaster (it is), why should their performance and prices be comingled/averaged together with private healthcare to make it look not as bad as it truly is?
