fantastic to hear. Hope you are able to be by his side during his recovery. Troy is lucky to have you as a son in law. Don't forget to reassure your better half.

I am very proud to know you, even if it is ever so slight here on this internet thingy. I hope I can measure up as even a fraction of the son in law you are.  coolsmiley I am very happy that things went good for your father in law. I am even happier for the caringness, compassion, and honesty you have shown here.

And one for the selfless saint who gave so that another may live. angel

The hard thing to deal with is The two men who gave to save another. One man gave the heart another had the heart and his body rejected it. Now it beats in Troy.

Still praying.

Wow, it can actually pass on to another? I thought after the first, that would be it. A one shot deal.

Sitting up in bed and talking says he feels good. Not bad for a guy that's lived with a metal pump for in his chest for 3 years

Thank you all for the concerns and prayers.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.   Does he ride?   If not, once he's recovered, take him for a short easy ride.   He'll love it.

Doctor came in while we were there and said next week they would do a biopsy and see if he was rejecting the heart. If all goes goes well  he will go home in another week.

He hasn't rode in over 40 years. I picked up a 78 CB400  Hondamatic last year and he wanted it bad. Said he could put his heart pump batteries on the luggage rack and it was small enough he could hold it up and ride.

Repairing it this winter and if he is still with us and able will give it to him this Spring

Rejection.

There are several types of rejection and can be acute or chronic; meaning is can happen immediately or years later.  The highest risk for rejection is in the first several weeks and decreases over time.  However, the risk never goes away; thus, anti-rejection drugs are a life-time ordeal.

KG, I'm glad to hear your FIL is doing well.  Hope he gets to ride that bike!

Well, I'm still pulling for him just as many others are but, regardless of how this turns out, this man has been blessed with a wonderful family that obviously loves him a great deal.    How much more could one ask of life.

The greatest gift a parent can give their children is love.    The return of that love is the greatest gift for a parent to receive.    This gentleman is obviously a giver and receiver of such love and is truly blessed.    My hope is he sticks around for a long relationship with his family and friends and hopefully will be able and willing to attend the next Inzane,    Would love to meet this man.   cooldude
