13+ hours door to door.  Got home, fed the dogs, drank 1 beer, and crashed hard.

We sure had fun.  What a beautiful day for a beautiful ride.  Thanks to all who came from near and far.  Those who missed it really did miss it.

That group shot is the definite "Picture of the Week".

My route from home to home was 426 miles.  That is the same one way distance to Jackson, MS, almost to Albuquerque, Kansas City,  Sierra Blanca, Amarillo or Corpus Christi in Texas.  Or, just a normal "Eat to Ride, Ride to Eat" adventure on a Valkyrie.

Motorose and Thalas'shaya in the house!

we got home several hours and a coupla whiskeys ago.  i had to satisfy myself with a Mrs. Smith's fried pie at our last gas stop on the way home, as there was no pie in Nacogdoches.  not that i think i coulda stuffed any down my pie-hole... it was already full of catfish and onion rings.

great ride today.  have we started mocking john for imitating a Harley and vibrating a piece of chrome off his bike while crossing the RR tracks in Lumberjack Town?  if we haven't started that yet, we should.

wonderful seeing/meeting/reconnecting with all y'all!

The light's are still on.:2funny:

I don't think it's a Harley :2funny:

A lot of people ask me "how tall are you". My Standard(now it's Valkyrie related) answer "519". Quite a  number of people think I am at least 6'. :2funny:

I had a blast, it was good to get out and ride!  It was great meeting everyone and seeing the large number of Valkyrie's in one place.  A annual ride sounds great.  Below is a link to some pictures I took so enjoy.

After we left Nacogdoches Gary tuned of on Hyw 59. I split of after we stop in Alto, TX.

You can say "mex-e-ah" and then they will KNOW you are a Yankee.

Or say it muh-hay-uh like Vermithrax said and they will think you are a Texan.

How would you pronounce "Bexar"?  If you didn't say "bear", then you are not smarter than a Yankee.

Where are we going to meet next year for our 2nd annual "Meet in the middle ride"? Maybe we can pick a town a little further west next year. Lets see, where was it that they have that deep fried bacon?             :o

We could get this to 7 pages if everyone sent in their pictures of the ride itself, picked on John a bit more about parts falling off his HD Valkyrie or maybe talking about how we could get this to 7 pages.

Snook is where they have the deep fried bacon, but that is just south of College Station.  It's not middle - 3 to 4 hours from Dallas, 2-3 hours from Houston.  Guess it's middle enough.

I think a good spot is Crockett.  It's more west and looks more central than Nacogdoches.  Not sure where to eat there, but read a review on the Moosehead Cafe and the reviewer says it's great home-style food and "save room for pie".  That would get Thalas'shaya on the ride.

Probably would be a good idea to plan a ride to Crockett and check that place out before next year, though. :cooldude:

I ran a quick map to Crockett.  We take the same route from last Saturday except we turn off of 323 and head down another road towards Crockett.  174 miles from Al's to the Moosehead Cafe.

Are we on 7 yet?

The original "Meet in the Middle" was Woody's in Centerville.  The one on the East side of the road.  Parking would be a little tricky, but they have a room off to the side that rarely has anyone eating there.
This is just what was mentioned originally.  Both groups could figure out ways to get there besides just blasting down/up I-45.

7 pages yet???

Hearne and Groesbeck are also good middle-ish spots.  Hearne has the Dixie Cafe, but I have no recent personal experience eating in Groesbeck.

Of course, there's always the Somerville Steakhouse, in Somerville.  It's a little further from Dallas than it is from Houston, but I imagine the Houston folks could work out a roundabout way of getting there that would even it up some.  :)
