Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted to be President someday. Both of her parents, Democratic Party members, were standing there so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied... “I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride!

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said...”But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!"

"What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents aren't speaking to me anymore.

There's about 20 variations of that story... and they're all good.   cooldude

Love it!  cooldude

Easy to have an opinion, but the minute you actually have to do something, your values change very quickly.

Not very political, so I don't even know what the parties in question stand behind. Like mentioned, many variations of the same story, but I understand the sermon.

One more turn should do it!

Kent, Ohio

This is no joke. I am living it here in Kent, Ohio! Local university finally bought the last piece of the puzzle in their plans. Old building that was built sometime around 1932, I believe. Currently it houses a Starbucks. Over the years it was basically always a coffee house of some sort where all the "beatniks" hung out. Well, now all those beatniks are screaming that the building needs to be preserved. Reasoning's range from historic, architectural, my favorite is, I have a lot of good memories from that place. I know for a fact that the U will gift this building to whom ever wants it. The U will not be doing anything with the land for 3yrs give or take and they've stated that publically. The catch is where does the money come from: to move it, land to move it to, rehab it, maintain it? The idea people(liberals more times than not) want it saved by "they", "they need to save it". Idea people well, they have all the ideas and no solutions.  Gummit(they) - (taxpayer$) - (you and I) is their solution! When I told them they have 3yrs to save up their nickel$ to fund their wet dream. You would of thought I was a terrorist! The share arrogance of these types of individuals is nauseating!
I will keep you posted on this issue. What you think is a joke is real. Fact is stranger than fiction
