My lack of Fashion Sense

Let me say straight up that this is not meant to offend anyone. To me fashion and dressing up is dumb, and I realize I am in the minority with this. But I keep seeing guys my age or older with earrings and or with a ball cap tilted to the side or the bill bent upwards. It's probably just me, but it doesn't seem like it makes them appear younger or hipper. But it draws more attention to their oldness. I apologize to any of you in this situation, it just seems weird to me.

Spousal unit wanted to have both our girl's ears pierced as infants, I was STRONGLY against doing so.

The compromise we made was that once they were old enough to understand it and articulate their request to have it done, I would be the one to take them to do so.

Taken both of 'em now... But at least they were old enough to ask for it to be done and understand what was happening...

I understand your thought process on that and have no problem with it, Brian. But on the other hand, after letting the doc circumcise my son when he was a couple days old, who am I to say my wife couldn't take our infant daughters in for pierced ears? All three girls had it done before they were one.

In hindsight, I think the circumcision was much worse because my boy couldn't walk for a year!

What has me baffled is why guys with ear rings don't carry a purse.  Where else are you going to keep your Tampax?

I have some very nice finger rings, neck and wrist gold in 14 and 18K (and a coiled cobra ring with ruby eyes)(all custom/hand made), and it sits in a box in my safe.  I should sell it.

Wife and me never been there while 18 year old kid has.  Wife wanted me to change clothes from nice navy stretch/sweat pants with white stripe down the side with nice looking plain dark red t-shirt on to at least another nicer shirt and blue jeans to go to Red Robin to eat.  I said NO,  looks good enough for me, but wife said not going unless I put on a dressier shirt and at least nice blue jeans.

So, is Red Robin restaurant really that fancy???  or am I just that much of a slob?  
And no, no holes in sweat/stretch pants sort of nicer looking ones as far as they go, but no blue jeans and NO, NO earring or tattoo or ball cap or pants falling down, etc....

10 dollar burger with tons of fries, looked at menu online and not too much more than culvers, etc . but the drink pricing is not listed guessing 2 bucks for a diet coke, unlimited refills of course or not?

maybe might go tomorrow night for first time since I have to change pants tomorrow anyways.. 

wife gets so fussy me wearing stretch/sweatpants all the time.  I figure if I eat bottomless fries I am afraid I will need those stretch pants since am more comfy in them than any blue jeans.

My father in law had several earrings in each ear, covered in tattoos, and was the nicest man I had ever met in my life. He and my mother in law fostered 20 different kids over 25 years. So to tell me that men with earrings can't sit at your table or men do not wear earrings or whatever is just wrong to me. I ride in motorcycle pants (Draggin Jeans or Aerostitch jeans), boots, gloves and a vented jacket
all year around. When it is 95 out it is flippin' HOT no matter what kind of britches you have
on. When it is cold out, I put in the jacket liner, wear long johns and if needed have a heated
jacket liner and gloves.

I just looked up the Gusset jeans while reading this thread and wondering about made in USA
jeans. I think Gusset is made in Georgia and I like Georgia (except for Atlanta  ) ... I think
there's a Texas kind of USA jeans too...

Tell ya what I'm one stylin dude.  Lookin for a carry soln that wouldn't pull my pants down, I came upon Big R's Carhartt $20 jeans.  Rig them up with an Instructor's gun belt, held up by heavy workmen's suspenders with the ends sewn into loops - added 18" or so of seat belt web - so the belt goes through the loops, installed IWB hybrid (leather & Kydex) holster, Victorinox Swisstool case, and clip-on quick release MACE can.  Takes 10 minutes to assemble so set up 2 rigs this way.  Pants stay up, comfortable, good access strong side to CCW and with less-lethal option.  Put on the pants when leaving the casa, remove when return.  Pants can be worn several times before needing wash. So I always have jeans when out, always armed.  Pants never fall down while suspenders never damage the fabric or the belt. Always wear a conceal CCW vest or light jacket, or heavy open insulated tail out shirt for cover garment. Works for me.

I haven't changed my fashion since I left college in the  late 60's.  Wear levis, t-shirt, maybe a long sleeve shirt over the t-shirt this time of year.   No Tats', no rings in the ear or else where (leave the nose ring at home).   Dress causal most of the time.  Even will wear jeans and a pull over shirt to church.  No ties or suits for me.  Haven't had a tie on since last wedding I attended 10 years ago (middle kid finally got married).  And do keep my hair very short, not shaved but close to it.  Not trying to look like the Rock, but not much up there anymore and it is easier to take care of.  No shampoo and nor brush needed.  Quick use of beard trimmer once a week and good to go.

Don't have problems with males who do have rings in places other than there fingers, wear spandex, or  pants down to knees.  The fashion of wearing your baseball cap backwards  in my younger days, meant you were looking for fight.  Guess that has change over the years.

I grew up on a farm where our wardrobe consisted of denim, plaid or camo...earrings and tattoos on a guy were grounds for an escort out of the yard at the business end of a 12 ga. Well, not quite, but almost.  Then I went off to tech school and one of the guys in my class had nose and earrings, tattoos, etc. He became a good friend and we are still best of friends 25 year later. Our kids have grown up together, we were in each other's wedding parties. I've learned not to judge a book by its cover. 

And yeah, my wife and daughter always complain about me mixing plaids and/or camo patterns.    kinda hard when that's all you have.

Nope.  Judge not, lest ye be judged.  Let him without sin cast the first stone.  I can see it now, a VRCC Inzane men's fashion show/walk...... late, after the beer is mostly gone (thrown empties, hurt less).  But who will be able to top Stanley anyway?

Yeah, I'm not a golfer.  But in winter, my retirement wear (at home) is plaid jammie pants and Tshirt (all day, every day).  I have looked for solid colors with no success.  The microfleece and heavy cotton sweats are too warm, and the jeans are not as comfortable.  Then when chilly,  I may throw on an old threadbare long sleeve flannel shirt.  They never match (not even close).  Even with little fashion sense, I am a little embarrassed to go out to the mailbox this way.

Being viewed as peculiar by the neighbors has both up and down sides.

And as a child, I still remember my mom explaining the difference between being of good character (good), and being considered a character (not so good).

Comfort in the all day saddle of the 18 over "fashion". Try bouncing yer guts all day in a big rig and you WILL begin to unerstan!   Generally Wranglers but I found some nice ones at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Texas around Christmas fer 10 bucks on sale-their store brand I believe. And on my Phatt Ghurl any jeans I wear gotta have lotsa room fer da boyz.   Sides-If I'm gonna leak B B Q sauce better on a $10 T-shirt than a $50 Wrangler Western Wear shirt. Unless of course It's a limited edition T-shirt or a "special" T-shirt. Long as the clothes are fairly clean and in decent repair WHY should It Matter? RIDE SAFE.

I had stuff to do at my moms house today and by time was going to get back being too late to go to RED ROBIN restaurant since wife and one kid had shopping as USUAL to do and eat there, told them go without me, no harm done.   I can deal without spending 10 bucks for a burger and fries...   
Although, I might next time as long as NO 15 minute wait to be seated like they had today and I can on a WHIM be wearing my stretch pants if in the mood for a big bacon cheeseburger with UNLIMITED steak fries which I NEVER get enough of if I go somewhere to eat can always eat 3-4 servings of fries so gotta get my 10 bucks worth right???

After son turned 18 he put a ring in his ear an then he came home one day with one in the other ear and I told him if he didn't take it out and through it I would rip it out,to this day he only wares one ring. Sorry not into jewelry or tats or waring a cap backwards, but do ware a cap so the sun don't fry my head.
   I heard some shave their heads so they can fry eggs on them but haven't seen it done.
