I was on FB talking to a friend and we got on a subject of movies. We discussed which we thought were good one's. One really stuck out, it was defiantly a guy movie, "Warrior's".  What interested to me was getting from point "A" to point "B" and seeing the the results of their efforts. (Also great jam by Joe Walsh, defiantly spot on song) I have seen it many times, it is one you eventually go back and watch over, not a one shot movie. Return movies like Godfather, Lord of the Rings, Pulp Fiction and so on.

For me "Warriors" wouldn't even make the top 100. "Little Big Man" was a great movie.  coolsmiley

Havent seen warriors yet. but Little Big Man had some terrific scenes it in and a ton of irony
Little Man is in my top 3 western and Pulp Fiction is in my top 3 action

When I do the favorite movie thing its top 3 by category
Action, Sci Fi, Western, War, Black and White (meaning before color so Wizard of Oz is not B&W), Silent, Comedy.

Last time I was at LD and Don's ranch they had some really good choices, just cant remember them now

I remember my Dad's favorites included The Guns of Navarrone and Bridge over the River Kwai

Mine include "Arsenic & Old Lace" B&W comedy color comedy Some Like it Hot,
"The Kid" silent,  Movies that were also plays  besides Arsenic would be Guys and Dolls

After thinking about it Hacksaw Ridge is way up there for war movies even tho recent also The Great Escape, never tire of watching that flick when it comes on.

My favorite is from 1941, "Sergeant York" starring Gary Cooper with Walter Brennan, Joan Leslie and June Lockhart (Lassie, Lost in Space)

It's a biography based on Alvin York, a WW1 hero.

Great story, great acting, excellent FX's for the time and just a hoot to watch.

Captains Courageous (1937)

Down to the Sea in Ships (1949)

I have many favorites, but I love the old  B & W seafaring adventure stories about growing up, good character, and right and wrong.   Life at sea, wooden ships under sail, man against nature.

Never saw the movie, "Warriors". I looked it up because I did not recall it at all. "Warriors" was a futuristic version of New York and  " Gangs of New York " was a period piece. Which I did see and enjoy.

   Godfather
   When Harry Met Sally
   Wizard of Oz
   DeNiro
   Pacino
   J Wayne
   Bogart
   Grant
   Eddie G
   W. C. Fields

Too many good movies and actors to list. If I see any of the actors above, I will watch without hesitation. Absolutely love to watch a good movie. Prefer them on the big screen but anymore TV has to do. Hard to find new ones. There are some good new actors but, I just do not remember names. Good with faces.

Just watched Hacksaw Ridge last night. I rate it as excellent and a must see for anyone who enjoys WWII movies. And it was a true story of a real American hero.

Just watched Hacksaw Ridge on DVD,  darn good movie one of my top 3 for sure of all time for war movies.  Tad bit too graphic for my taste, but that is war and what actually happened based upon a true story of a true hero.

I liked the ending where showed clips of some of the WWII vets talking about that event who were up on that cliff including the war hero Dobbs before he died in 2006 at age 87.  WWII on back and even most of our Korean War vets are now gone.

A lot of great movies over the years.

If you like WWII movies "Fury" is about as good as it gets.  Anyone who has ever served can appreciate the tightness that is formed in units.  "Best damm job I ever had!" (That will stick with you.)

"Hell or High Water" was a great current day west Texas move just out last year.

Coen Brothers flicks are always slightly off bubble" Fargo, Big Lebowski,  O Brother etc.

And "La La Land" was robbed this year for Best Picture.  But then again, you have to love musicals.

Have you noticed now of days, many movies, TV shows and even songs are remakes of successful entertainment from the past. I guess if you have been living in a cave they would appear pretty cool.  To me, very few remakes of entertainment has ever impressed me, it's like hanging on its coat tails, try to steal the original's thunder. But there have been remakes that refined the original, I think Rocky Horror Picture Show may be one of them.   To me is it like trying to remake Elvis or maybe Roy Orbison, NOT going to happen. I think may be, that is why we see so much Anime these days.  Acting and directing is and may be was an art, may be even lost art. I watch on TV these so called movie critics, basically they judge the movie by how much it made at the box office.  Rather than by the quality, content and ones personal interest.

Porky's I,  II,  III

those were the good old prank day movies.

First one of those Porky movies I still remember age 10 or so with my parents at the drive in movie theatre in our car with my older brother as well.  Pretty funny pranks thought of drilling a hole in our high school's tile wall to sneek a peek into the girls locker room - great idea for a youngster.

There were actually two versions of the hole in the wall that I seen. The one, he stuck his pecker through the wall, the other one he stuck his tongue through the wall.  Either one had me crying, especially when they were in the principal office trying to explaining it.
