DDT sounds like its time for a road trip that way if you lose a key you can go to the front desk and get another one.

been there, done that.  I have for decades now hid a house key outside and duct taped it inside a secret spot not seen.  Have not used it or looked for it in decades, but guessing it still works if not all rusted out?

I now installed about 3 weeks ago a new garage door opener and this one now has a 4 digit push button code wall mount to get back into the garage, so doubt that key will be used ever unless the batteries on that 4 digit code flip up wall mount goes bad.  2 options is better than NONE right?

First garage door opener lasted 24 years before plastic housing inside cracked in the -10 degree temps in the bitter cold this winter, plus guessing more so due to old age of plastic after all these years??

New garage door is a chamberlain belt drive and is pretty neat if it keeps working got a wi-fi sensor that works thru an app on your cell phone to open/close the garage door from anywhere in the country at anytime and shows you if garage is open or closed and for how long.  Saves on buying more remotes since have a few cycles and 3 cars and only comes with 2 small remotes.

Seth I don't think that I will ever forget you riding off without Cheryl. The funniest part was when you realized it and headed back to get her. I thought for sure you were going to get run over. Then when Mark showed up with her and you said to her I was coming for you. The look on your face was priceless. Thanks for the laugh but I wouldn't make a habbit out of it.  cooldude

You know me so well, my friend... Yep, the magic elixir, the silver bullet for nearly all that ails me is... a Road Trip! I've got a raging case of cabin fever now... but... there is still a need for me to hang around at least a few more days. Soon, however, I will be back where I always feel best, where I truly think I belong...

Getting anxious! Nick is improving... even better, his GF is due to arrive here next Thursday (she lives in Florida)! (Drum roll here)... Ready? Yep, within the next couple of days I'll be heading out again, just ALI and her house-weary passenger!!! Man, this has been a long, long lay-over, but there is light at the end of the tunnel... at last...

I still have some chores and rat-killin' to take care of once I leave, but at least I'll be out 'n about with our gal... If it is true that absence really does make the heart grow fonder, then my upcoming return to 'the trek' should really be something! I'm thinking there could be multiple organisms involved here, perhaps other manifestations of glee, too...

Misery musings! Do we have some sort of masochistic gene driving us to expose some of our more embarrassing experiences? Nah, we're just all pals who feel comfortable with ourselves and completely unthreatened by letting others know of our own human-ness. And, we know that our kindred spirits are all comfortable with the imperfections we all have.

I actually have a rather petty motive for posting this reply... It's a wee bit embarrassing to acknowledge this, but because I do believe what I just said in the previous paragraph... I'm going to go ahead and let it out... See, I can be downright shallow and self-serving, too, in spite of the fact I hold no public office and have no inclination to ever become one who does...

I looked at the post to see if any more replies had been made... and I noticed the number of 'reads' was around 950... I've never had a post get anywhere near this many visits, so I was more than a little surprised... and pleased... WOW! Much, if indeed not most, of that is due to the replies many of you all have made, and the curiosity those have generated... Thanks for that!

Anyway, I'm now attempting to see if that number can be pushed over the 1K level... I confess to enjoying the praise many of you have given my writings, and I do enjoy reading the thoughts you offer on the subjects I find interesting and/or amusing. I'm also... well... curious about whatever this sort of expose demonstrates... and most curious about what your reactions to it might be...

Thank you so much, Rob... Your responses are always positive and reassuring... I do eagerly await anything you might have to add to my posts, because your insights and opinions always come across to me as genuine, sincere, concise, and on point...

Of course, anybody would be inclined to receive them as such when they usually include compliments and praise! Anyway, I do appreciate the way you contribute and leave me feeling that I got a fair evaluation and useful feedback... Thanks again...

Willow,

I hear ya... I wrestled with even bringing this up for several reasons... Besides the appearance of self-aggrandizement, doing so, as you obliquely point out, is hopelessly meaningless. It matters not one twit how many times this may have been viewed or reviewed by several, a lot, or a few visitors to the site. Content and reaction, plus the striking of a chord with readers are the only important measures, so I acknowledge your point... And, I thank you for your previous reactions to things I've written... Heck, using my stories on your own website ( willowinthewind.net ) is, perhaps, the highest compliment I've ever received!!!

DDT,

It is meaningful if that's a target.  You are within just a few views of passing the 1,000 mark.

You were right about me.  I think you and I both process verbally.  Folks may think that we say or type what we have solidly decided but in many cases verbalizing is how we are thinking, how we consider.

Keep it flowing.   cooldude

So true! I don't post nearly all of the stuff I write... I suppose I don't want to expose some of my thinking to the public, particularly things involving sensitive issues like illegal immigration, politics generally, euthanasia, abortion, capital punishment, the appropriate size and role of government, to name just a few.

Those are private things for me, and I'm not one to enjoy debate and/or argument... I am not a missionary or evangelist. I have no interest in competing debate skills, 'showcasing my brilliance', or the triumph of one dogma over another. My interest is in understanding and in steering my own 'ship of life' in such a way as to do the right thing in all things.

I need to think those things through for myself, and I desperately want to find real answers and 'truth', not merely to validate my own existing beliefs. I have been wrong before, and I have hurt others in the process. I hate the feelings associated with that, but providing reasons, excuses, alibis, or other blame avoidance mechanisms don't do much to soothe a disapproving conscience.

No matter how we 'explain away' a failure, we still are dealing with failure... Avoiding blame is not the only issue for this pilgrim, dealing with outcomes and consequences are also most relevant! And, ultimately, avoiding future failures is the real goal... the urgent need. Causing minimal harm is important to me.

I do care about many things, though, and writing about them in this way helps me to process my thoughts... just like you said! Yes, I do find this helpful in developing my thoughts and moving in a good direction towards improving myself and my conduct through the construction of a sound foundation of values and beliefs... Yes, I've long known you and I are kindred spirits, at least in this regard...

Thanks, my friend... I can always count on you for an assist! Well, I reached the 'goal', and you certainly helped in that! I'm thinking I may burn a pair of drawers in tribute to you and your contribution... Reckon 'Giz' would approve?

Poor Griz... a good boy who has landed in a good place to live and be happy... loosing his doo-dads is part of the price for all that... At least he has no gal-chasing or matrimonial conundrums to confound him now... Hmmm, maybe I need to consider that topic and possible path much more thoroughly... Wonder if this has ever shown up on Willow's radar screen for ponderment...? Nah, with Motomama around, he would have no reason for it to even come up...

A time will soon arrive when it would be appropriate for me to ignite bloomers in a ceremonious manner... I will do so then, giving you full recognition and credit... Thanks again.
