If this keeps up, I'll have to request a refund on my dues.  (And that isn't an idle threat!)

Simpler (I hope Wink ) explanation of DNS cache:

You've got an address book that says your buddy Willow lives at 6 Cylinder lane.
You want to go to the Valkyrie get together at Willow's house, however Willow has moved to 1520 Valkyrie Way.

Your address book is the incorrect DNS cache.

Flushing it would be the equivalent of calling Willow and getting his current address information, and updating your address book....

If you drive to the VRCC gathering using the old address you won't find the VRCC gathering. If you update your address book to the current address and drive there, you'd hopefully, if your navigating skills are true, get to the right place.

Make sense now?

Willow had a Valkyrie gathering and didn't invite me ?  tickedoff

Yeah, I get it. It's just not interesting to me, so I don't pay much attention to that stuff. For all our sakes though, I'm glad it's interesting to some such as yourself.  cooldude
Well "head", you forced me to laugh out loud. Seriously.
Thank you for that!

Logged in just now for the first time on a brand new PC . . . got in the door first attempt. I've never had a problem getting in - ever. Desk top PC - Laptop - Handheld droid . . . first attempt opens every time sans problem.  At home, usually I just open a new tab and hit "V" on the keyboard to bring up any surf history that includes a "V" in the title. Each website with a V shows up in a list. I click on the Valk addy and the door magically opens - every time. For the past eighteen years.

Same for me Dave. It's flyin' now. I posted about it in a thread titled "Giving Credit Where Credit is Due" a couple of days ago but nobody responded on that thread. I thought maybe it was just mine that was ok now. I guess folks don't respond much to "positive" threads.

you should have made it political, then you would have gotten tons of responses.  Roll Eyes

Man, you got that right. However, you'll never see me start or respond to a political thread. Total waste of time.

I'm kind of wondering (Seriously) if I did...

I tried doing some forum searches this morning and they never completed. I know the search function can be rather taxing on these older forum systems, wondering if that's what's doing it in...

(Writing this in case the admins are watching this thread and can look at it? I'd hate to lose the search feature, but maybe a test to disable it for a bit and see if that helps with the forum system instability?)
