I got 5 days until left hip replacement. Weather liars have rain on 2 of em & snow on 1. Bike has been setting since November, I GOT to run the tank out of old gas, refill and add seafoam since it'll be 4-5 weeks till I can ride again. OK, maybe less if I sneak...
Everyone wish me some sun tomorrow afternoon, and Thursday too. Snow on Friday ggrrrrr
sure miss ridin,

Dude, you'll be fine. Just throw some seafoam in the tank and turn the bike on. Let it run until the fan turns on and you're golden. Or, the harder way, you can always drain the carbs. There's a screw that's very visible when you look at them from the side. But I wouldn't worry about 5 weeks.

Dude, if I get the crap done that I want to early on Thursday, I'll text ya and maybe we can grab some air and chow.

Suppose to be sunny and in the 50's, good riding weather.    We had good rain to wash away all that Morton crap you and your brothers spread all over the roads. Grin

Been LOOKING at my ladies to long, time to thrash one of em.

Sounds good Bill, if it's +32* I'm riding to work. Out at 3:30.

Nogrey, I'm not worried about the 5 weeks, it's the 5 months she's been sittin already, plus 5 more weeks.

If you're getting the "anterior" approach done for the hip job, you'll be riding in a lot less than 5-6 weeks. They don't cut muscles with that method, had mine done Nov. 30, have a 4" scar on the front of my hip, running errands on the bike in less than 3 wks. Plus, only a couple movements they don't want you doing for a couple months. Great to wake up w/o pain, I never did use a walker or cane once I was discharged.

Nope, that's OK however you'll find it a bit of a challenge because they stretch those muscles to gain access. Just keep up with the rehab and work it as directed. At one point I asked my phy. therapist if she would leave the whip in the car just once. She knew I was joking, she wasn't....really busted my butt, especially on your balance. Paid off big time. By the end of the first month I was sleeping on that side just as much as the non-operated side.

Yes what John said, DO THE REHAB. I've had 3 total hips the last one I was walking without a cane the day I came home from the hospital. After 3 or 4 weeks doing the rehab I was walking, golfing and riding or anything else I wanted. That was 3 years ago still doing good.

Just run it over the line into RI for some real juice. All old stuff should be purged by the time you return home and she'll be happy Cheesy. Add seafoam for an extra measure.

Thanks all, good to know I'll be the next one saying woo-hoo no pain! And can ride without oxy.
I'll be doing the rehab religiously as riding again is a great motivator!
Plus I made plans to see the solar eclipse from the Cherahola with Mr. Whiskey and don't want to miss that!

oldsmokey- where do you get the real gas in RI?

Robin, WAY too cold for that ride! Never hit 40* this afternoon, but I got my sticker and burnt a half tank of old gas. Do the other half tomorrow.

All you year round riders, go ahead and laugh, but 90 miles is a good afternoon here,   cooldude

It was the first one I had replaced back in '96 just wore it out. A lot has changed in almost 20 years.

I asked my doctor if he put in a heavy duty model. He laughed and told me at my age, it should last a lifetime. Then told me it should be good for at least 20 years so if it needs to be replaced it means I've lived a long time. Told him I hope to wear it out.  cooldude

I realize "stuff" in these human bodies of ours wear out or get damaged by disease. Ross-da prez-is the recipient of 2 artificial shoulder joints. Others on our board here have benefitted from this technology. But there is a tall lanky blonde of the female persuasion shilling for some legal firms on T V and one of her numerous spiels concern-YUP-artificial joints. She also shills for drugs and I forget what all. Reading this thread and being friends with folks that have had this type replacement surgery puts it all in a new light. And like my Brother I'm hearing good reports on life after replacement surgery. BUT either there are Some problems-Or-perish the thought-some shady type folks want to game the system. Hell-one of these days maybe I'll need a new joint or 2 or 3!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.
