and cannot remember where you put the darn thing?  Am sure we all have done it dozens of times.

I know I charged my basic mp3 player up with all my cycle tunes for riding this winter.  I found the plug in charger where I was 90% sure I left the mp3 player, but NO mp3 player to be found there or anywhere else.  I checked ALL OVER the house for hours, my coat pockets of several coats/sweatshirts, the cycle and basement NOT found.

ONLY other thing I can think of is it slipped into the trash can charging it this winter and I burned it, but highly unlikely since that small charging cord is where the mp3 player should be.

I know it is only 15 bucks or so, but has hours worth of good riding tunes on it and I would have to re-create all my tunes from scratch again onto a new mp3 player taking hours.... Angry

This what you do. STOP looking for the MP3 player.  Think of something else you misplaced.  Look for that other thing and you will probably find the MP3 player instead.  uglystupid2

Do what I do when I lose an important small part or bolt, spring, clip or something. Have the grandkids over with their keen eyes to help you look. After about 1/2 hour of half hearted searching, grumbling and horsing around, put up a $10 reward.
Less than 2 min. you'll be $10 lighter.

They say the average person spends over 2 hours a day looking for lost things. I know I keep that average high.

I lost a small battery pack for my phone. I have others, but this 1 was small enough I could rubber band it right to my phone and still use my phone like normal. searched for months, and finally gave up looking. going on  a trip to see the grandkids, I was cleaning out the car, and there it was. in the console, under wrappers and other garbage!

A pair of pants fell off the hanger in the back of my closet the other day.

A key fell out of the pocket.

There you are!!     (7-10 years since those pants were worn)

Tomorrow I'll go around shoving it in a bunch of holes.

Been a long time since I did that too.   Grin

Pausing pensively to run the movie in reverse and imagine all of one's movements, locations, conversations, situations, imaginings may trigger the release of those synaptic chemicals, fire the appropriate neurons, and in the mind's clearing...."Eureka!  I have found it!"   uglystupid2

AND sometimes...never to be seen again. Sad

Under the heading of losing thoughts and not things:

The strange but true part of this equation, is forgetting what you walked out there for, and having to go back to where you had the original thought, which nearly always reminds you why you walked out there in the first place.  I have no idea why this works.

Sometimes there is something visible in the original thought place that reminds you, but many times there is nothing there at all to remind you.  It's just the place where the thought originated.

My house is small, and I keep a lot of stuff out in my two sheds.  I can't tell you how many times I've walked out to a shed, and go in and look around and wonder.... what am I supposed to be getting out here?

Sometimes it makes me angry and I stand there and concentrate and try to remember; but it almost never comes.   So I go back to the house.  I need the exercise anyway.

I have found a way to use "Karma" to find lost things. I immediately accuse whomever is near of stealing the item. Karma does what it does and I find it almost right away...right where I left it.  2funny

so true, I was doing a brake job on my SUV today and went into the house to get something for the brake job.  As soon as I get into the house, I forget what I needed, so I go back out look at the SUV jacked up in the air by the tire, and PRESTO, remembered why I went into the house to get more paper towels and a press in tool.  I am such a dumb_hit sometimes.... uglystupid2   I swear I am getting altzheimers like my mom has short term memory loss already in my 40s.
