Say What You mean Mean What You Say

It is funny how everybody  keeps chasing Harley and using  V twin a air cooled
motors.
We all know through many miles that the  Valk, Goldwing  flat six motor
is the way to pack on the smooth miles.
I think all Mother Honda needs to do is add  the new giZ Moe's  to the Goldwing
and maybe  use the same motor in a sport frame with some  company backing
and maybe some of the brain washed V twin people will wake up
In defense of the so called "Brainwashed V-Twin riders"...not everyone wants a flat six motor that intrudes into leg room space. With Respect I again repeat that I like my I/S, BUT... I really miss all that stretched out leg room I had on the Stratoliner without any need for highway pegs. I also miss the tractor motor like torque that allowed me to short-shift while accelerating and still reach freeway speeds in about the same amount of time.
The other thing I miss was that cogged belt drive that made changing out the rear tire a simple job...and zero lash in the driveline. Many of us are addicted to that V-Twin thrum when cruising at freeway speed as well.
Respectfully...why trash talk what others like. I see enough of that negative stuff from the kool-aid slurping HD crowd.

Wow. Hadn't noticed that. Even though I would probably never take a bike much over 110 (used to pretty often though) I do want to know I can if I want. Someone with better math skills than me could probably find the gear ratios and see what gear the above would occur in. An article I read about it said it had an an "overdrive 6th gear" that left the RPMs low at interstate speeds. Perhaps the redline above would occur just before shifting into 6th?

I know my old V65 would do way over 100 without ever shifting into 6th but it had a much higher redline than this bike does.

I noticed this photo:

On the plus side: Yamaha seems to say that yeah, you can ride at 110mph on it, which is nice!

On the negative (assuming the photo is representative...): red lining the engine at 110mph? Damn! Even my 650cc vstrom with saddlebags and big ass windshield won't red line at 100mph.

IIRC, my 18 years old I/S will be at 5-5.5K rpms at 100-110mph (I don't quite remember as I confess that I avoid going that fast really).

If my math serves correctly...4750RPM is about 130MPH in sixth(75mph @ 2750RPM)
My Strat Redlined @ 5100 but rev limiter was 5800, which I hit sometimes.

help me out here

I didnt see anywhere what gear is 110mph at that rpm

Personally I think its just photoshop sure would hope that was 4th gear tho

The Indian I rode a few days ago was smooth as silk but threw some heat, wonder what the heat would be from the Venture

My next bike will probably be a replacement beater bike for the 1150rtp  maybe another used beemer assault bike  At 105,000 the Valk is just getting broken in

110MPH @4000RPM-6th Gear. I have not seen specs on gear ratios.
Just gonna have to wait 'till a magazine actually road tests one for that info I think.
I am guessing that the photo is while the guages do the test sweep when ign. sw. is first turned on...the needles are lined up the same which is what would happen during the sweep. Another clue is that nobody is riding it!!

Ha! You're right about the sweep. I noticed it wasn't being ridden of course but assumed it was a staged factory photo meant to tell a little about it's performance. Of course the sweep makes way more sense!
