Sometimes ya just gotta go...

Winter Springs, FL - Occasionally...

« on: June 22, 2017, 05:43:11 PM »

Hey y'all... Man, I'm feeling... well, not cocky by any means, but... well, hopefully optimistic. Yes, Troutdude is watching over my shoulder, and I am still learning stuff, but... Up until now I'd thought this was a lost cause, but now I'm beginning to think it just might be possible! Anyway, I've added a couple of photos below just to increase my confidence and gain some encouragement...

No story yet (I'm working on that), but a couple of comments seem appropriate here... If you've never ridden in Colorado, I urge you to do so!!! North America is absolutely stunning, and you can't go wrong touring any part of it. However, for my money, some places are just a wee bit more scenic and personally satisfying... and, Colorado is definitely one of those!

No particular order to the shots, and little if any continuity or message. Just random views that I found rather amazing... Yes, a good photographer could have brought out the scenes far better, but with just a little imagination, you should be able to get the gist of things...

DDT

P.S. Spent the other night in Durango, and got to visit with Valkahuna & Viv... they were staying at the same motel! It really seems to be a small world sometimes. Really nice chatting with them and sharing some excited utterances about all there is to see out here!

P.P.S. Just realized I'd missed an opportunity to include another picture...

Riding out of Estes Park, CO, headed towards Rocky Mtn. NP

In the pee line, Rocky Mtn. NP

I had to go too

The 'Apothecary" where I filled the prescription from 'Dr. T'

The 'prescription' with dessert

Some of the general sights

Thanks, y'all... Having a blast, and things are working out quite well... Motels are pricey and they ain't got no grits, but... that's to be expected...

Funny thing: 'Dr. T' and I stopped by the apothecary again headed northwards (had to backtrack just a bit), and I got a reminder that I'd boo-booed in my earlier post... they did NOT have sweet tea!

The guy who runs that operation commented when he overheard me order that saying, "I get a kick out of all you southerners ordering that." He went on to explain he didn't see the difference. I explained it to him, even gave him a couple of pointers on how to prepare it (not an overly technical process, obviously!)

That guy disappeared for a while, then he emerged and presented me a glass and asked me to try it! It was pretty good at first, but it seemed to go downhill soon afterward. I do give that guy credit, though! You don't have to be born to it to make that stuff right; but, like posting pictures on here, it does require a lot of patience and some practice...

Photo Bucket went all mercenary on us, and now they're holding our photos ransom... Serk put us on to another site that, at least for now, let's us post for nothing... I'm using that service now... Does this help you any?

It might, but it would help if we could see the pictures.

In fairness, it did always cost Photobucket to provide the photo service.  Photobucket was making money based upon advertising fees and selling services to those who were exposed to them by the "free" photo service.  Someone at some point decided that was no longer the case.

I hate to hear us bitch and moan about the loss of something of value (cost) that was provided to us for no direct fee from us.  It smacks of a sense of entitlement, something a lot of us find distasteful.

If you're receiving a service and you're not paying for it, you are not the customer.

You are the product that is being sold.

(That goes for Photobucket, the image hosting site I put forward, Facebook, Google, etc.)

We would both agree and disagree on those points.  I thought I was careful not to categorize the receiver of "free" stuff as a customer but actually there is both buying and selling going on.  The receiver chooses to "sell" his presence either to other advertisers or as a potential customer for the use of the "free" service.  If the provider at some point decides the "sale" is not enough to justify the cost of the service that is certainly his option.  It doesn't make him a bad man or a cheater.  It would only if the business had committed to unending free use of the service.

I would like to see what the numbers say when Photobucket is done with their new rules.

How many customers did they have before the announcement?
How many customers did they loose?

But better yet, how many of the customers will pay the $100 rather than loose the use of the program.

I am guessing it is hundreds of Millions, I don't know if photobucket is a privately held company or not, but this move will certainly bring in a VERY LARGE influx of cash. If they are a private company, it would certainly make them look good for going public in the near future.

This may have been their business plan all along.

It's: Postimg.org

Once you have set up your account which is free, and uploaded your chosen pics to it, just three clicks and it's posted here. You're still able to download all your pics previously posted to Photobucket, just download them to your harddrive then load onto postimg.org
