Wouldn't waste a nickle on any of it. Not that I follow NASCAR, but have a strange suspicion that the first driver to resemble such action may not see the third turn?

I knew this day was coming when folks would get fed up.  I'm way ahead of the curve I haven't watched a game college or pro in years except for the super bowl because I go to a yearly party where there is free booze and food and when that stops Ill quit that. I'm a native Texan and football here is intense it can make your life a heaven on earth or a living hell people here are way too serious on this subject.  ESPN they have that on at work and that has become a political left wing show that talks very little about sports anymore I think these people are truly brain dead laughable really.  But you will find what I find once you quit life is so much more fun once you realize its just a childs game nothing more and doesn't mean anything really.  These players are way out of touch with reality many of these people have been coddled and told that they are special since they were about 12 they live in a fantasy world.  Don't worry most of these players end up broke within 5 years of retiring so don't worry they will get whats coming to them.

Simple Solution pass a mandatory salary cap at say 200,000/year.  Most of these cry babies would quit!

Quit ?  Where else could they go and make that kind of money ?

Would be a good solution, unfortunately I think a lot of the star players make a killing from advertisement endorsements from Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Viagra, State Farm, etc

They're already millionaires... they'd quit because $200,000 would be
chump change...

Maybe they need to stop playing the Anthem at (some) sporting events altogether.

And not America the Beautiful either.

Let them kneel to Onward Christian Soldiers, or better yet, Camptown Races....  Doo-da, Doo-da.

The Anthem should only be played (or sung) where it has a reasonable expectation of respect.

I'll reinforce what somebody else has already stated. And myself personally I intend to keep to this. They-nfl-need me. I do NOT under any circumstances need the nfl. I'll start filtering the nfl sponsors and see which ones I can do without and inform the sponsors as to the WHY of them no longer getting ANY of MY Money. Hittin the sumbitches in da wallet may or may not so some good. Soon as I got back home to CONUS in 68 I quit drinkin bud so I've already quit at least one sponsor. Hey-the longest journey starts with the first step. RIDE SAFE.

OK, I will throw this out there. Does everybody here believe that all players understand what they are protesting?   "The shooting of a black perp by a white police officer. The officer was exhonerated of all charges.

Kapernick was protesting this situation and it's outcome along with the treatment of all black people in general. Has he ever offered an explanation of his actions? Or, is this his reasonong? Is this the true reason why all are now protesting? Do they really know? Or is this a monkey see monkey do thing? Is this just retaliation against Trumps statement only? People just seem to want to protest anything anymore weather it makes sense or not. They even go to the extreme of burning and destroying their own home towns. I can't get a grip on this mentality, none of it.

I agree.  There is a definite follow the tail in front of you thing going on.

I highlighted a word above for the following reason.......  Not ALL black people are treated badly in general, or ever.  I had a heart to heart with my daughter about this very thing Sat. night after the YES concert we all went to (brought down the mood of evening real fast unfortunately).  While in this country, I do not believe that anyone in my family has ever been treated with any kind of animosity or anger or treated any differently because of the color of their skin, by the state, a business, law enforcement, etc.  From an individual person on an individual basis, yes, definitely, but you can't govern or control individual racism or bigotry.  My lovely wife could tell you stories of patients calling her names and treating her "unkindly".  Can you imagine.  She comes into the room with that face and smile, providing the best care you'll ever receive (nominated nurse of distinction NYC) with a kind and caring manner and you call her the N word?????  But that doesn't mean the COUNTRY is racist.  However, black people internalize racism in any form that happens to any body.  Trump never said a word about blacks during the campaign.  He has black people on staff throughout his organization.  He made Amorosa practically a household name.  Yet black people HATE him because they were convinced he's racist based on Mexico and the travel ban.  If he's racist to those people, he has to hate blacks too.  Therefore, we hate him.  And, if you're a black WOMAN, you hate him twice because he's a racist who wants to grab your pu$$y.

I took away from the conversation that minds will never be changed.  I never met a 23 year old with such conviction, almost arrogance.  I gave example after example of things that have occurred over the last 6 decades that I have witnessed, that she has only read about, maybe.  Yet she still holds firm.  I stated there is not a country on earth where there is more freedom, more equality, more opportunity afforded to people of color and that we have a positive population migration from other countries while other countries have a negative one.  If this place is so bad, why do people from all over the world want to move here?  Still nothing.  Trump is bad and the country is inherently racist.  It was founded by slave owners and people owned slave for the country's first 90 years.  I was told there was the daughter of a slave at the opening of the museum.  The woman was over 100 years old.  Therefore slavery wasn't that long ago.  But her great grandchild, 5 generations from slavery has every opportunity that anyone else has,........... nothing.  Then the monuments were mentioned and I couldn't go on any longer.

After about an hour, it goes to the monuments and I realized I can't compete with the nonsense people are being exposed to and the purposeful excoriation of our President.  I thought some of the $hit Obama was blamed for was harsh at times, but this is ridiculous.  Not only is the media going after him, but the election loser and previous officer holder are hanging around and going after him.  This is unprecedented stuff.  "We shouldn't prosecute the losers", even if they are criminals, because that's not who we are.  Remember that bull$hit?  But the losers, the criminals who made the mess, can hang around to tear down the winner while he's trying to fix what they phuked up.

It gets MASSIVE respect at sporting events.  60,000 people stand, non millionaires, who worked hard for the money the buy a couple of tickets to take their sons to a football game.  To experience all that that entails, including the color guard and the anthem.  It's all part of it.  And we're allowing 20-year-olds, who have been told all their lives that they are great, special, heros, and rewarded with lots of money because that can play ball, to ruin a good thing.  Patriotism is a good thing.  Pledging allegiance to the country providing the greatest opportunities and where you have more protected rights than anywhere else, is a good thing.

Then maybe the networks should only video the crowd, and not the players.  Like that could happen (the networks are in on it, body and soul).

I know the crowds show respect.   But if every sporting event is going to start with a kneel-for-the-anthem show, then deprive them of the anthem.   Like that could happen (but it should).

WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAPPEN ? ? ? ? ?

I just saw video, with mine own eyes, of Villanueva, a former soldier, apologizing for being to only one of the Steelers players to come out and show respect for the national anthem.  Something about making his teammates look bad.

They should be apologizing to HIM!  For making him choose between the love he has for his country and all that entails, and the love for his teammates who are behaving within their rights to be assholes.

Now,......... I've seen it all.  Apologizing for showing one's patriotism to the country you love and have defended.

 Cry

And they still don't why Trump won.  Hillary is on her denial tour, Obama won't go away, patriotism is wrong.........

There is probably some racism in the hearts of some on this topic.   I can only speak for myself.

When I was younger, I used to help place flags on the graves of Veterans who had served this country on applicable holidays.   I don't remember a single grave marker that ever indicated the race of that patriot.

I said this previously and still believe it.   For those who can stand, it's disrespectful and similar to pissing on the graves of patriots who served and many cases gave all for their country and the Constitution of this great nation.    I distinctly remember being in a parade once where the National Standard (Stars and Stripes) were leading the parade.   I observed a group of elderly citizens who all stood, some helping others to get up on their feet to stand as the flag was passing by.    That left a lasting impression in my heart.    I honestly don't remember the race of any of those people but, each and every one of them understood what that flag stands for and what it took to keep it flying high.

America is far from being perfect and there are many things that should be different but, insulting those who fought to get us this far is reprehensible in my opinion.

Destroy from within. Destroy from without. Destroy. THAT unfortunately IS the message I'm getting from the nfl. And the networks that ARE part and parcel of the entire nfl package. I don't like how something tastes I quit eating it. I don't like how something smells either it-smell-goes or I go. Something gits dirty I wash it. I and I alone determine WHAT I will watch and make myself part of. Until the nfl gets this unpatriotic bullshit straightened out I CHOOSE to no longer invite them-nfl-into my living room and when I see their petty childish-apologizing to ALL children now-lack of brains I intend to close my eyes mute the sound and wait a minute or two before resuming. Apologizing to the Ladies here now but what's been going on with the nfl seems similar to round bout the 26th day of the month or so!  Lips Sealed Married twice 3 daughters and grew up with 2 Sisters so I Know bout hissy fits and such like!  Roll Eyes Could these star athletes be throwin hissy fits?  uglystupid2 RIDE SAFE.

This is the same NFL that wouldn't allow Dallas players to show support for police officers murdered during the BLM protest in Dallas.  They evidently don't understand their demographic.  I hope they're about to find out.

I've lost several friends, brothers in arms in Viet Nam, in peace time incidents, in the middle east and one in Central America.   To me, that flag and anthem mean more than my own life.   Many have given more than I.   Failure to show respect to the flag that my brothers in arms gave all for is equivalent to pissing on their graves.   Screw them.

While I have been a KC Chiefs fan my entire life and I'd love to watch them play, I won't do it.   I sincerely hope these overpaid entertainers lose all their fans.   I know some won't boycott the NFL for reasons that I simply don't understand.

Those entertainers have huge resources they could dump into education programs, community projects, child care, legal assistance, etc....   for the people they supposedly are protesting for but, they won't take from their own pocket to help those they say need help.    Screw them.   I can survive without the NFL, looks  like I may become a NASCAR observer in the near future.   At least NASCAR fans, teams and owners get it.

 Not One More Dime:

NFL Stadiums Have Collected Over $1.1 Billion in Federal Subsidies – Time to Cut Them Off

The NFL gets federal tax dollars?  that's outrageous!

Gateway Pundit reports Stuart Varney joined FOX and Friends on Monday to discuss the NFL national anthem controversy.

Varney reminded the FOX and Friends hosts that NFL stadiums have collected over $1 billion in federal subsidies.

Stuart Varney: There’s $1.1 billion in direct subsidies from taxpayers to the NFL… Taxpayer subsidies go to the building of stadiums. There have been 20 new NFL stadiums since 1997. All of them have received a degree of taxpayer subsidies.

According to FOX Sports over the last 20 years, the American public has spent more than $7 billion dollars to build or renovate NFL stadiums, taking on 46 percent of the total costs of those projects.

Time to stop this also, but from Judge Jeanine we have a good commentary.

Judge Jeanine; Gives her best rant ever on Spoiled NFL Players Disrespecting the National Anthem..!

Washington football coach cannot pray after games: U.S. appeals court

(Reuters) - A high school football coach in Washington state has failed to persuade a federal appeals court to let him kneel and pray on the field immediately after games in sight of students and parents.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday rejected Joseph Kennedy’s request for an injunction requiring the Bremerton School District, located just outside Seattle, to reinstate him and allow his prayer.

I've rattled these off before during debate.  There are so many more high ranking and visible positions held by black people in the military, healthcare, local gov't, teaching, etc.

In my opinion,  by continually advancing the garbage about the nation being racist, it negates the achievements of all these people.  If the country is racist, then the only reason they got the positions must be due to some program, not because they earned it, it wouldn't matter.  They would only be getting it because of skin color, or not get it because of skin color.  And look at the jobs listed........  Law makers, Law enforcers, and most powerful position in the entire world.  Would a racist nation hand over the keys to the people they hate?  Would we let those we hate teach our children?  Would we let them operate on us?  Would we let them represent us and preside over us in a court of law?

Come on already.  People can be such Schmucks sometimes, believing all the nonsense without an actual thought process going on.    uglystupid2

I've always liked Rodgers, but his take is just more spin (away from insult to country, veterans, flag, sacrifice) (and toward our President, in a negative way).  It's called deflection.

Just because you say kneeling means only this.... but not that, doesn't make it so.

Of course I don't know him well enough to postulate motivations, but there is this to consider:  If 70% of the NFL is black (as above reported), and roughly half of that 70% are on defense, preparing to charge and blow up the quarterback on every snap he takes, it's not a bad idea to go pubic in their support (including his own team mates).

I sure would not want all those defense men pissed off, and coming unabated to the quarterback, with revenge in their hearts, if I was taking those snaps.

Less self serving, there is also this:  All TEAMS of any kind, need solidarity, cohesiveness and unity of purpose to prosper and succeed.   This probably has a lot to do with the linked arms, with all players, coaches, and owners.   I would happily link arms at full attention with my team mates during the Anthem..... unless they were physically connected to kneelers.

Scenario 2 makes more sense.

I think next time they are playing the Anthem and they kneel, they should just stop the music and say
"Let us pray"  cooldude

Apologizing for showing one's patriotism to the country you love and have defended.

With the current SJW/Leftist trope of "Patriotism is just codeword for racism" it sadly makes sense...

Every racist I've ever met also thinks they are patriotic.

OH, this  is now a mine is bigger than yours debate.

I don't know kapernick, don't care to.  Apparently he is the nitwit that started this crap because a police officer was cleared for doing his job. I could care less about him or the NFL. I do care about those who choose to disrespect our flag or anthem. I'm one that believes he and the others are being disrespectful and displaying that disrespect at the wrong time and in the wrong location.

If you are a kapernick fan, thats fine with me.

Being he is out of a job, I don't think he's taken a knee in some time.

No, that's not what this is. 'Articles' like that are just another attempt to create and/or reinforce division and strife on a subject that is already loaded with it.

If it was a real attempt to inform the public of his charity, it would mention all the other organizations that received his $$. They could then add something about what some would see as a controversial donation. But that's not what these outfits are interested in.
