Just awesome, I can identify a bit when on our bikes and you catch the wind life seems to change. But this is just such a shift in thought.

The ‘Compton Cowboys’ have had the strength of character to re-focus their lives in a positive way. Together, they serve as an example to others that by making bold decisions and following your own path in life, you can find peace and personal fulfilment, regardless of circumstance.

Ya gotta appreciate it when someone finds an activity/passion they love that causes no harm to anyone else.   Good for them.   cooldude

Saw a whole lot of Compton (along with Inglewood, Watts, and South Central L.A) in the middle 70's and let me tell you...it's no place for a horse, especially in the hands of the yayhoos that are in the video.

Horse hooves with their accompanying bone structures and concrete are totally incompatable unless you have specialty (and very expensive) shoeing performed every three months.
I commend them for wanting to rescue these horses, but they'll wind up doing them more harm than good in the ghetto.  Within a year to eighteen months they'll be broken down and unrideable.

Yes, I was the honkey creme-filled center of an oreo cookie. at the infamous "Jungle Room" and had it not been for my black co-workers I would not have lasted 45 seconds there. uglystupid2

Gangstah cowboys?  Nope, nope, nope.  Hopalong, Gene, and Roy are rolling in their graves.  uglystupid2

Life, either horse or person when you have nothing to live for and then find something everyday its precious. Both the people and the horses had a death sentence so everyday they cheat death and find something to live for is a good day. Something is going to kill you, you better make the best of what you have. I would reference coal miners if you want to think of odds or maybe lets talk how motorcycles are not compatible with cities, roads or driving on streets.

You sound like that old movie, "they shoot horses don't they"

The next time I see a story about how a dog was given wheels to use rather than being able to use his legs I will remember that the proper thing to do was to put him to sleep, to end his life since it didnt fit neatly in what is socially and physically acceptable. Or should they have remembered that with you when you were a sandwich or tight spot. To me that is not remembering and being thankful for the compassion, or grace that was given to me in that one moment. That to me justifies uglystupid2

Do not go gentle into that good night, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I guess I see things differently, the love and compassion that some experience, that caring for another may not have been something that was ever available to them before. To see one life changed or a connection made was worth it, as I would pick up 20.00 on the street and consider its value why is one life not worth to be picked up by a different means and maybe brought to a spot that they have a chance to realize that they too can climb out and be something. HOPE, really HOPE whats it worth, how do you get it when all has failed?

Roy put people first and loved them so I'm pretty sure he would approve, I wonder where compassion has gone in this world.
