"...on Thursday, all eyes of the nearly 1,500 students were on the school's academics, specifically chemistry teacher Maria DeBruin.
At an awards ceremony held at the gymnasium, DeBruin joined 45 other teachers around the country in the 2017-18 school year to be recognized by the Milken Family Foundation and win a $25,000 unrestricted cash reward."

We've been to a couple of the science shows over the years and it's a nice night out. She gets the audience involved and the students prepare for hours to make this a good event for everyone.
If you watch the video and look at the photos, my youngest who is a senior is in a few of them. She is one of the students standing up front and is holding the last "0" (zero) of $25,000 (wearing a blue long sleeve shirt).
I can only imagine the show she will put on this year with the extra money. For a long time she's gone into her own pocket for some of the supplies needed because her school budget just isn't enough and she's said if she had more money this could be a much bigger and better event.
