12 Strong: The Declassified True Story of the Horse Soldiers) is an upcoming 2018 American epic war drama film directed by Nicolai Fuglsig and written by Ted Tally and Peter Craig, based on Doug Stanton's non-fiction book Horse Soldiers, about the CIA paramilitary officers and U.S. Special Forces sent to Afghanistan right after the September 11 attacks.

Set in the harrowing days following 9/11, a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince Northern Alliance General Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies. In addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghani horse soldiers. But despite their uneasy bond, the new allies face overwhelming odds: outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless enemy that does not take prisoners.

I rarely go to the theater but, for this I will make an exception.

While currently NOT a fan of hollyweird this one and the other new one-the long road home??-I Might part with some of my coinage to go see. I'm of a mind the "entertainment" presented to us in the form of movies the last What? 10 15 years by my count has left a Lot to be desired besides the general soaking of our wallets to gain access is on the Highly revolting side. I hope others here go and see/watch this one and the other I named and report back here please!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

@old2soon: if you got triple A, that allows you to buy movie tickets with a hefty discount (almost half the price).

While I've always been an "action and special effects" movie fan, what I like about this movie is that it's based on a true story of some very brave American soldiers.   Planning to buy the book also.
