Keep the shiny side up

Sioux Falls South Dakota

« on: December 26, 2017, 04:03:53 PM »

Anyone on here from South Dakota? We finally got our snow and along with it our frigid temps. Man I went and did a couple arrands today and my truck could barely keep me warm. It’s really cold out there. So tonight I’m in my lazy boy, got a blanket and sitting in front of the boob tube. Stay safe out there and warm.

South Dakota no,.....Ontario. Looks like we`ve got a week of -25 to -32C coming this week. Don`t think I`ll be getting a whole lot done in the garage!!

I spent the day pressure cleaning my walkways, driveways, and exterior of my house.

Thank God for air conditioning as I was soaked through in my t shirt in this almost 80 degree weather here on the Fla. Treasure Coast.

Bill ,everyone has their  bally wicks. I hope you did not sweat to much. We hit about 15 above today.
All I can say is that I am glad I am retired. I worked mostly outside the last 30 years. I do not miss it. We (one of our jobs) did water main repairs. Cold snap was havoc on them.

-8 degrees last few nights BRRR!!!  Had to break out my winter coat finally.

feel sorry for all those people having to work OUTSIDE in this brutal cold.

How they do it is beyond me, but had to replace my daughters weak 6 1/2 year old battery in her car last night 550cca tested at 313cca so do not want to take a chance on it failing up northern WI when she goes back to college even though my test showed 12.5 volts still, the CCA's at auto place said was VERY weak at 313CCA's.  surprised only 313ccas would even start a car in -8 below temps.

luckily had it in the garage, although unheated was not too bad taking 30 minutes or so.  Hardest part was putting that darn metal bracket bar over in place of the new battery.  seemed to crank over faster when test drove it afterwards so should be good to go for another 5-6 years since last battery in it lasted 6 1/2 years May of 2011 installed.
