Banned words. Fair warning.

The VRCC has selected a few words that are banned.  That is they are not to be used in posts.

Until now there have been several of us that have made use of misspellings or abbreviations to post these words.  As of now postings that go out of their way to use not allowed words will be removed.

You can tell whether one of your words is on the list by using the preview function and see whether one or some of your words have been altered by the message board software.

The software isn't working. Obviously some words that should be banned are still getting through.

It looks as though the software isn't able to detect banned words with spaces put in. You likely will have to resort to manual deleting.

Yeah, there are 400,000 words in the English language and there are 7 of them that you can't say on television. What a ratio that is!

399,993 to 7. They must really be bad. They'd have to be outrageous to be separated from a group that large.

All of you over here, you 7, baaad words!

That's what they told us they were, remember? "That's a bad word!" No bad words, bad thoughts, bad intentions, and words!

I just typed a whole bunch of "bad" and racist words, and preview showed them just as I had typed them.
I won't say what they were.

Gary, it's a small list.  If one cannot communicate without the words in that small list he has a bigger problem than I can fix.

BTW, none of the words on the list are curse words.

So, if anyone uses those words they know that post and the one they are responding to will be removed? Seems like a good way for some to get a post removed, I think they already know this also.

I don't want to put words or actions into the admin's mouths or fingers, but I suspect if a person were to do such a thing, especially repeatedly, they would be dis-invited from participating in this group's forums...

Hoping that dig wasn't meant for me.  I don't believe I SNUGGLING deserved that.

I'm sure all the readers know exactly what snuggling really means.

How about a list of acceptable replacement words, or are we going to completely take a knee to the perpetually offended.

The slang word for poop is part and parcel of all my spoken and written word.  Unless I'm talking to old people (I know a number of folks here are old, but you don't count).

That word has so many various and sundry meanings and is such a good descriptive verb or noun: George Carlin did a whole comedy special on it.  It's hard to communicate without it.

In speaking I find myself using it often myself.

You are correct that the word has multiple meanings.

In written commentary it's easier to avoid.

You can once again refer to the petcock by name.  You should not reference petting your rooster.

It's really not that difficult to communicate without foul words, unless, I have discovered, I have just stubbed my toe or dropped something I really need between the engine and the firewall.  In those cases, I hope no one has been near enough for me to have communicated anything.  With a little practise, one can express their ideas just as vividly and forcefully, or perhaps more so, using well-chosen words.

While I seldom use vulgar words, they don't bother me so much.  Words or phrases I find most offensive are those that profane the name of God, i.e. using the words "God", "Jesus", "Christ", etc., as an exclamation or for other common use.

Oh MAN.  You're wrecking all my fun.

Gonna have to bookmark my modern language / slang / expletive / scurrility thesaurus.  Or whatever that resource is called.

Truthfully that's not one of the few words I put on the list but I can easily avoid it.

I actually find the word "poop" offensive as I see it as a pretense of using another word that means exactly the same thing.  My motto tends to be it's not how you spell it but what it means that matters.

BTW, I despise George Carlin.  Singing his praises is a good way to lose status in my book of the people I hold in honor.

I stopped being a fan of carlin at least 30yrs before he died, since he was cursing God in every show he did. The last one he did which was the worst I ever heard him to be against God. week later he was dead.
