I know it looks different, but hopefully firing on all six cylinders again...

If you're not seeing avatars:

On mobile - rotate the device 90 degrees
On a desktop computer - make the browser window wider.

This version is a lot more dynamic and aware of what it's being viewed on and will live adjust such things to optimize the experience for the display it's being viewed on.

Job well done.  Board looks good. The only thing I've noticed so far is occasional slow response and SSL cert needs installed.  Correction, the redirect is pushing me to http the cert is fine.

ETA: for clarification,  the redirect for https://www.valkyrieforum.com/ is redirecting to http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/

Thank you for the hard work is getting the forum back online. I really missed it !

Well now I'm being bounced back to the old board sometimes.  Looks like the public IP may have changed but the TTL is set at 24hrs.  I May just need to wait the 24 in order for DNS to propogate.

The bookmark add-on has not been updated in a very long time and doesn't work on the new forum.  We (Serk) will work on a new add-on.  He's at Ren Faire, so not today.  If we do find one, the old bookmarks will be lost.

Looks good.  Great work.

Will take a bit to get use to the new look and how to find things.  But should be a quick learning experience.

Looks like a couple of threads were cut off. I just looked at "Thoughts on handlebar risers" and see there are only 6 replies; pretty sure there were more yesterday.

We posted on the old forum that any posts made after we made the back-up would be lost. Sorry, but we had to choose a point to make the back up file.

Testing Postimage integration mod:

So it seems to put the image inline small, but it's there.
Ya'll try out the "Add image to post" link under posts and replies, see if it's working for ya'll...

Still hosting the images offsite on Postimage, but it automates the Postimage part and just squirts the link into your post...

Brian - Date and time look to be WAY off - or is there a setting in personal for time zone ?

It's a personal setting; tweak the time zone to your personal local one. I think this link will take you to the right place:

https://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php?action=profile;area=theme;

If not you click your avatar at the top -> Look and Layout then change the "Time zone" field, scroll to the bottom and click "CHANGE PROFILE" to save the change.

So I'm a bit confused on the whole clock thing. Am I supposed to be on New Jersey time/East Coast time?

Which UTC code is for NJ, it looks like there are 4 to choose from on the drop down list.

Right now it's 3:29pm dst my time but the website says 7:29

For New Jersey I believe it'd be UTC-4:00 Eastern Time (EDT/EST).

I set your profile to that time zone, does the forum's time look sane to you now?

Yes  ;D  thank you!

In the list of UTC choices I didn't see eastern time edt/est but thank you. I thought the original website was set to like a central time, my clock never matched up with the original website clock.

Looks good here! Thank you to all for your time and effort, it is always appreciated. 8)

Looks GREAT!

Thanks Serk!

For those of us with "Old Eyes" I found one of the optional layouts that looks very much like the old board.

You might also check.  At the top of the theme I'm using it gives the option of setting the size of the displayed text.  I haven't yet discovered how to make that permanent rather than just for the thread being viewed.

Serk

If you're reading this you're back, but it appears our ISP made a change to our IP address related to a different request I had, so the forum will be flakey for the next ~24 hours or so as the DNS cache ages out.

Apologies, I wasn't aware this change was going to be made or I would have shortened the TTL of our DNS records. Hopefully this will help make things work better, and should work itself out within ~24 hours.

(And is another step to help getting things working properly. They needed to change the IP so a proper reverse DNS record could be set up to help the big e-mail providers accept mail from us.)
