Spring is here, I think it's safe to say. After a week's work in Calgary re-living my Winter nightmares of the past few months here, I arrived home to find a second consecutive sun-filled forecast for our  neck of the woods here in SW BC. Called the Mrs from the airport and yup... she's up for a nice day ride on Saturday. Before heading out East, the plan is to hit Abbotsford about an hour West to pick up a new pair of chaps for my bride of 36 years as of Sunday... my anniversary present to her (yes I know, I'm such a romantic sole  Wink).

Heading West on highway 7, a nice clear, brisk morning... my favorite time of day and temperature to ride.

The Old Dewdney Store... a favorite coffee stop of ours, with a great bakery....and beef jerky cooldude

After picking up the chaps (honestly... She did appreciate them,  she does has a practical side
to her and did want a new pair... I did get her a nice ring at Christmas  angel) we headed back East through the backroads of Hatzic

Little bit of snow left... Good Riddence!!

Into the twisties...this is a great little stretch with few if any other vehicles... just have to keep an eye out for the odd tractor. This time of year is burning season in rural BC...lots of landscape clearing fires everywhere.

We continued East past the town of Hope, however this is where Spring road conditions ended. Higher elevations on highways 1,3,or 5 past this stage would produce either the possibility of snow or ice residue, or most certainly  a lot of sand and gravel, so we headed back to Hope for a coffee.

Crossing the mighty Fraser River... another month and the snow runoff will make this a this into a much less peaceful waterway.

Outside the Blue Moose Cafe in Hope with my MUCH better half and our new friend... a new addition to the many carvings in this neat little town... the gateway to the interior and northern regions of BC and beyond. As I've posted on here previously, my wife has been my riding co-pilot from the very first night we met, always willing to hop on the back of my bikes for rides short or long, through every conceivable type of condition.  Never a complaint even on longer rides, and has trusted my abilities and endured my penchant for living up to a nickname she has given me (Around the Bender).... where I sometimes like to stretch a day's ride to where she's logged countless of 500,600, 700 + mile days on the back of that old Corbin seat.
We're off this AM up the Sunshine Coast to celebrate 36 and counting great years together ... I. am one lucky motorcycle rider for sure  cooldude cooldude

cooldude  Love your ride reports, great scenery!  Yes you are quite blessed to have a bride who loves to ride like that. Nothing beats the mountains and all the twisties.
Thanks for the ride along, we are enjoying the best part of our riding season, the heat is coming.
Be safe,

what a great read,  really hit the spot even better than a good beer with dinner.

Such a wonderful part of the world and you are lucky to have a riding partner like your wife

Nice report Mike.

That beard is growing longer, soon you will need to rubber band it!

Great report Mike (and as always, great pics).   cooldude

Wow, so how long did you have to sit for the artist to get your likeness on that carved bench?  Grin

MSB,

Great ride report and great photos too.  Looks like a wonderful place to ride.
Very lucky indeed to have such a willing and able riding companion.

Thanks all for the comments. I showed the Mrs this report...she wondered why I can tell you guys how lucky I am, but don't say the same thing to her often enough....she has a point I guess...

Beardo...ya, I hear that a lot, nice of you to mention it again

GR...can't believe how much snow you have piled up there. Hopefully you get into Spring weather soon.

RP....that's a good suggestion, think I'll take your advice and put together a report one day with that title specifically in mind. There's a lot of things one  probably doesn't think about  when on the road that is making it so enjoyable at the time.

Bill...one day you're going to have to make it up here for a ride...easy to cool off in the mountains in the warmer Summer months. cooldude

OSS...."better than beer"...my, that's quite a compliment, Thanks!!

Michael....just trimmed it before that ride  Grin

Jess....Now that you mention it, I guess there is somewhat of a likeness there. Figures you would pick up on that. 2funny

cooldude Nice ride report. Enjoyed the pic's very much. As much as I love to ride, it's hard for me to think about staying off the bike for very long. I'm glad your temps have improved and your making great memories with your awesome wife & motorcycle companion! Very nice  coolsmiley

Mike,

Great report, love the pics! Congrats on the anniversary. Gotta be happy about a love story with serious longevity... AND, she's happy with chaps as an anniversary gift! Now that's a winner for sure!!!
