The thing to do is to try and discover if there is any litigation going on with them, and see if you can add your claim into it. Google up
their name (actual corporate or business name may be different than the name they are using on line) and the word
litigation, and see if you can find anything.
The age old problem is that only company (investment or other big) creditors are SECURED to the helmet maker's assets. Anyone like you who prepaid for a future helmet are unsecured creditors.
With the usual bankruptcy liquidation of startup businesses that fail, only the secured creditors get anything, and the unsecured creditors get nothing (not even a sorry).
