We'll soon have to release our room block.  If you want ensure you get a room at GZ and get the VRCC rate, it's time to Git 'er done!

Also, another reminder... the early bird deadline is May 10.  It's sneaking up on us!!

I assume you won't be releasing the rooms before may 10. Is that correct?

Technically, yes, we will release our block 30 days out.  However, reservations have been lower than anticipated, so they are asking us to adjust our block now.  In order to get the number of rooms we thought we would need and the rate we got, we had to commit to a certain number of rooms.  At this point, we are trying to avoid being on the hook for those rooms.

How many more do you need to reserved to meet your quota?

I'm not sure off the cuff.  It's based on room nights, not rooms per se. We should get an updated count on Monday.

InZane registration only fell below 300 once (Paducah 2005).  So, we typically plan for 300-400 attendees (150-200 rooms; 600-800 room nights).

We're about 32 rooms (average of 4 nights for each) short of our commitment.  We have to release the block on 5/10.

So, the weird thing is that we actually have more registrations this year than last, but more single riders (less co-riders).  Based on that, it looks like we'll have more bikes there, but less people.  Not sure why co-riders are staying home this year.  ???

I'm probably responsible for a decent chunk of that difference, I was a party of 7 last year, only 2 this one, the issue being taking the whole circus on the road is a bit much to do every year; Montana with a route through Colorado and the Rockies, Wyoming etc offered incentive to let the kids see something they hadn't seen before. They've made the trek from Dallas to the east coast several times however.

(This isn't complaining about the location, just explaining why it's just me and the eldest spawn this year instead of me, with 6 non-riders in tow.)

I've got a pretty good group riding to InZane with us. Making a two day ride out of it staying just off The Blue Ridge Parkway the Saturday night before the early bird deal on Sunday . Fingers crossed for safe travel for everyone and dry roads all the way.

I'm contributing to the changing stats as well.  Last year, four of us, two on the Valk, two in the van.  This year, I'm not attending at all; my shipment hasn't come in yet:

Not just last year, but typically at least half of our registrations are rider and co-rider.  Not so this year.  It just seems a little strange.  Oh well, it will be nice to have more bikes!   Smiley

Not sure of the bike count yet, but I am bringing an extra.  My FIL didn't make it last year because his bike was still in the shop, but he's good to go at this point. I won't know for another 2 weeks if the wife will be on her bike or with me.  She tore her left rotator cuff and they are trying cortisone and rehab for a couple weeks to put off surgery.  If successful, she will ride her bike.  If not, she'll be on the back. We'll know more in the future, but we will be there.

Joe there are NO decent hotels in Galax itself anymore.

There are some chain hotels near I-77.

I ran into a guy on the way home from the scouting ride that told me this place was good:

It's just off the Parkway at Fancy Gap.

Ok, well numbers are up a bit. Not high enough for a road trip yet. It's going to come down to the wire. But...

I'm registered!!  Hotel reservation made, now it's like ok I dug the ditch let's see if it fills with water.

A few things still have to fall in place and only time will tell.

Hope to be on the road soon!

OK, I finally got my reservation in and room booked.

Hopefully all works out.  Will be driving the Kia and bringing the wife again this year.

House is not quite finished, but, close enough we are going to try.

Looking forward to seeing all again.
