Blood, chainsaws, Valks, tires, riding... arguing... in the same thread. Would this be an example of 'diversity' or 'multi-culturalism'?

It's called stream of consciousness. The (normal) human mind wanders. It gets bored in one place. Oh look........ nice hooters. I'm as guilty of thread drifting as anyone, but I generally try to let the original poster get his answer(s) or the discussion of the original (narrow) issue peter out before I do it. Many drifts keep the discussions going, and would not really be worthy of a new thread topic (but some are).

... Having said that, may I presume you will be addressing other threads in the same manner? ...
The difference between presume and assume is the presence or absence of evidence. I presume youy meant assume. Assume nothing. You know what assume does to us. I'm well aware that thread drift and conversation takes place. Sometimes it seems related. Most times it seems related. IF you're smart and want to start a different discussion you can quote a post and start an entirely different thread with your response. Sometimes I may just be having a bad day. For the record I have two Valkyries wearing Cobra rears and one sporting a Falken. Those without experience, significant experience, on a particular tire rather than reviving a tired old argument on why it won't work should get behind one such as Joe May and try to keep up. The evidence will present itself. You guys do what you think is right. If that causes me to think you are self centered assholes I'll just keep that observation to myself. Joe, I'm extremely glad to see your tough self back in the saddle and getting better. I remember your riding to Texas recovering from a pneumothorax. You are the man. P.S. Keep in mind I exercised no administrative authority in this thread. I only expressed my opinion. I hope I'm allowed to do that.

it's not the contact patch, although the larger rear tire should have a larger contact, it's the "cam" actions that concerns me. Transitioning from the flat to the lean cannot be the same as a round profile tire. there must be some fall over feeling and the tire, because of leverage, is always fighting to get back flat. We jave all gone from a worn bike tire to a new bike tire before. Just doing that makes the old bike tire feel square. Ill.have to try out a bike witha car tire but I have a feeling that my sentiments will.match that of others one here that have tried and gone back. As for legality, Ive heard they are hard to find a shop.to mount them, but lots of guys darkside up.here too.
I don't ever feel the flat spot when transitioning from a left corner to a right. I also run 34 psi. The edge of the tire squishes down so you really are not riding on the edge of the tire. I know for a fact my car tire has saved my bacon 3 times on loose gravel in corners. If it had been a bike tire I would have been down. Only at max lean does half to two thirds of the tread come off the ground, but then the forces of the flexed sidewall do not exert as much force to straighten the bike up as at a half lean. The tread (even on rounded edge car tires) does want to stand you up in turns, but the force on the handlebars to keep it in the turn smoothly is only a few lbs of pressure, and not fatiguing (and not a fight), just different from a rounded profile bike tire. And I will freely admit that my first experience was not a good one. I am not assuming anything....just going by the actual experience of dark siders...

I wonder Joe if maybe you think just a tad more about gear now, I read the chain saw thread and what sticks out is your statement of the next time you are cutting that you will make sure you have the proper protection. But trust me I am not offfering riding gear grief or a suggestion moreover a “I wonder” as said. When it comes to gear I am somewhat of a hypocrite I buy Schuberth full face, I wear sport boots and after that fingerless gloves t shirts and jeans. I know when Pappy is in the group he makes me think about it because I see him suit up. Now Lesa is another story. I don’t know if I will put more gear on but I do think about it. Glad you are on the mend. Ride on.

Those without experience, significant experience, on a particular tire rather than reviving a tired old argument on why it won't work should get behind one such as Joe May and try to keep up. The evidence will present itself. BaWaaHaHaHaHa!!! Well said

I've been lucky only been down once and it was dead of the winter. I'll be honest I see folks with all the gear all the time and I understand. But when its hotter than the hinges of hell here in the south I'd just as soon take my chances and not sweat like a pig when I'm doing something that I enjoy.

I was with him the day he was draggin' the headers. We layed it over at the overlook to see how much lean it would take to hit the header pipe. With Reb happiness isn't around the corner it is the corner.

Us flatlanders don't get the chance to do this scrape thing that you all do very often but that last time after a run on 129, I noticed a slight scuff grind area on the crash bar. I guess I need curb feelers. We will be back soon Its good to have friends
