This past week I made a misguided and not very well thought out post about Solo 1's 90th Birthday being ignored.
There were a couple(or 3)things that prompted me to say what I did without thinking it through.
1) I thought just about everybody was aware of Wayne's special day, especially since DDT talked about not being able to attend because of mechanical issues(and who doesn't read Bruce's adventures?)
2) I also thought that Staff members were more involved with the board than apparently they are.I Don't know why I thought that. I know how often I come here so I thought is you were staff, you would be here more. Big mistake on my part.
3) With those two "wrong thoughts" on my mind, I was trying to show support for my good friend. That didn't work out so well.

So, to Motomama(I sure hope you are doing better), Willow, F6gal, and any others that I insulted or offended, I truly apologize.

I promise to "sit" on any future posts for 24 hrs before hitting the "post" button.

A lesson hard learned.  I got myself in a lot of trouble by hitting "send" without letting it "soak" awhile. Took a long time to learn that for me.

Doug,

I appreciate the apology.  However, even that holds some very wrong assumptions.

Typically, I check this board several times per day.  Other than DDT's post, there was no mention of Wayne's birthday.  Because I missed one particular post, does not mean I'm not involved.

Following your previous post, I  scoured this site, trying to find Wayne's birth date... it was nowhere, not even on his profile.  Even DDT's post didn't mention the date.  So, I guess I'm not sure how you would think we would know.  And how the fact that we didn't, leads to the assumption that we are not involved.

I thought it had been mentioned a couple of times but if you say it wasn't, then it must not have been. Maybe I was thinking of emails I had exchanged with Wayne and the Boys where it had been talked about. Some things get a little fuzzy at times.
Anyway, I've done what I can to make amends, that's all I can do.

As I said, I appreciate the apology.  I just wanted to clear up the assumption the staff is not involved.  Most of the staff dedicates the majority of their free time to the VRCC.

You’re not the first one to “vent frustrations “ on a forum, we all have bad days and I know there have been times when I’ve said or wrote something when I was not thinking clearly.

IMO your original post showed caring for a friend and frustration of believing that friend was being slighted and called out some people. Now that you understand the what was up you post your mistake and own up to it. To me both posts are well intentioned even with the misunderstanding of the original.

IMO everything’s good and worked out cooldude

I assumed this to be true although admittedly, I was slightly disappointed when I didn't get a personalized birthday card or greeting on the anniversary of my birth signed by the entire staff.         I'm sure it was just an oversight.    cooldude

Most people don't know how to deliver an apology.  A real apology says, I did something I shouldn't have done and I regret it.  A real apology doesn't include excuses or explanations.  Yours reminds me a bit of some of my presented apologies that sound like, "I shouldn't have done that.  I thought you were smarter than you are."   Wink

I do spend more time on the board than do you.  I was aware of the celebration but I don't recall if it was from the board or email.  I didn't respond to DDT's birthday thread.  I don't respond to a lot of them.  That's just me.  If you expect otherwise you will unlikely be disappointed again.

Thank you for the commitment to slow down on posting criticism.

Willow, I have never, ever, criticized you on this board.  But, I feel I have to.  Doug apologized, I think it should be left at that.  When someone apologizes, normally it's not good to grind their face in it. I expect that kind of behavior from myself, not you who I have always felt was fair.

Thank you for your perspective.  I certainly didn't mean to grind Doug's face at all.  I did find the apology less than completely sincere.

I'll leave it at that.  My observation does not need to be subject to further assessment.  I could be wrong.  I was twice before.   Wink

It's been decades since I've thought that birthdays should be a big deal.  I don't even really want my own birthday celebrated other than on ten year anniversaries, and that's more to appease those who love me.  My wife places way more importance on acknowledging birthdays than I do, so sometimes that produces domestic conflict  Lips Sealed .  To get one's shorts in a bunch because a birthday wasn't celebrated or acknowledged, especially by those outside the immediate-family/best-friends circle, indicates an inflated ego, IMO; there are too many things to get upset about without that being another one.

This is exactly my attitude.  Birthdays are for kids.  Mine isn't advertised, noted, or celebrated (for decades), and I don't eat cake.  And I don't respond to birthday threads.  But everyone should do what they want.

I survived another year.  It's good, but it's no big deal.

Now if I make it to 90 (highly unlikely), I might do some (poor) dancing.

    I know how you feel.
I almost made a bigger mistake than yourself.
By my not keeping up on things I missed the info about a
very important brother here we knew as RJ.
Well I had sent him a few PM and not gotten any answers
and stated thinking I had insulted him some how and resolved
myself that I had done something wrong.
Cant tell you how strange it felt when I found out about his passing.
I was both relived and oh so saddened .
You did the right thing as any man with a soul would do.
