you ever heard of "Proton VPN"

Not specifically until I googled it, but I am familiar with VPN services.

Personally I'd avoid a free VPN. If you're getting a service and you're not paying for it, you're not the customer. You're the product being sold.

And for something like a VPN, I want to be the customer.

I do use one, but doing a little googling on it the one I use has gotten poor reviews as of late, I may need to reevaluate my choice. I've been using the one I use for many years, and my choice might have become stale.
