Bitter sweet '28

Customer brought his '28 T model truck that he HAND BUILT for his wife of 54 years. He wanted me to hand letter the side boards, was the only thing he had left to do after 8 yrs work on his labor of love.
Don't know how old he was, but said he gave up m/c's at 73 y.o.

Man bought the firewall cowl with windshield frame, fenders/running boards and built every lick of the sheet metal - hood, doors, cab, bed, tailgate frame, suspension, radiator shroud, etc. Man built his own spindles! Set up a Jag rear, powered by an all aluminum LS in a car that couldn't weigh much over 2300 lbs.

Bitter part is, his wife developed cancer and is now stage 4. He couldn't wait to let her see my work.
After seeing his, I felt like junk. He paid me before he even looked, then tipped me $20 as soon as he saw the side boards. Before he left, he forced yet another $20 against my protest. Ordinarily, I would have refused this gentleman's insistence, but who am I to rob someone of a blessing.

I am always amazed by people’s talents and abilities, in this case his and yours. Glad he was able to get it done before her passing. I’m sure she is a special woman to all who know her.

Wow, just.....wow. Such artistic talent from both sources, and to think....I can't write my name three times and have it look the same.

This guy is so over the top, he drew up a blueprint of every aspect of this vehicle. He said when he built a component for the chassis or mounted a piece every thing fit just like a factory part.
I most times strive for perfection, but rarely achieve it. He is anal about fit & finish, yet he built the truck to drive.
His floor pan is lower than stock T model, he made the seat for his wife, of course a/c, wildwood brakes, etc. Has a gismo hidden on the roof under the black canvas material that receives a signal for his GPS gauges that do every thing including mph, elevation, g-forces when cornering, and who knows what all.

He is very concerned about the gap between the radiator shroud and the hood he built. Says the shroud is not up to specs and vows to add material to make the gap conform. I ask why he didn't just make up the gap by adding to the hood, he replied "That would be cheating".
