I grew up in the Springsteen era, he had a couple of good songs but was never a big fan. Less of a fan nowadays. There was tons of great music in those days from Pop to Punk, to Psychedelic to hard rock to Hair Bands.
I still listen to the "classics" along with a generous helping of new stuff, especially some of the new music from far away countries.

growing up in NJ it was tough not to be a fan. his early stuff was really good. was never a "super fan" and never saw him in concert but I know many who did and they all say the same thing, his concerts were great. you have to give credit to a band that will put on a 4 hour show.

now those same people who saw him then say his concerts aren't so great anymore, he puts too much politics into his show.

his voice was never great but his lyrics were really where the true nature of his music was, i have to give credit for that too. he has returned to Asbury Park many times to pop up at the Stone Pony with out notice an perform as well as other venues around the jersey Shore when it all began and where he pulled imagery from for his lyrics in his early years.

i know a few people who have run into him at taverns and out in public and they say he's not a complete ass and is pretty down to earth, it's just his politics that stink.

3 of my favorite Bruce songs;

Saw him play 3 nights in a row when he came to London and played Wembley 1992.

And twice in Atlanta in the late 90's.

Never a Springsteen fan either. Liked his grit though. My bands have played Glory Days forever as a filler. I like the song but not much more of his stuff. Music in general for me took a dump after the hair bands went away. That's why my current band plays some 60s, a bunch of 70s and a smattering of the 80s music. This band finally dumped Glory Days.

His song "Streets of Philadelphia" always gave me goose bumps and I enjoy a lot of his play.

Lately, like many, many entertainers, I feel he can keep his political opinion to himself.

I am sure most can re capture memories of their youth in Glory Days, I know when hearing hearing speedball I go back to my baseball days.  His politics - not good. My favorite song of his is one seldom played - Youngstown.   Music for me sure waned after the hair bands.  I high school friend of my wife does trivia and now music trivia at bars around the Dayton area.  Our team gets them all right, right up until they start the 90's era, then goes downhill fast.

Of course in Michigan we had Bob Seger that started around the same time frame.  I do not remember him ever being very political and he draws a lot of bikers to his concerts.  Hard to believe he is over 70 now.  His Live Bullet Album was voted number one live concert recording for the 1970s, by readers of Rolling Stone, in an era that had many great Live Albums.

Nice STRUT video although those victoria secrets gales need some food in their tummy since awfully skinny....

Agree, after the 1990ish year music went downhill in a big hurry.  I still think, IMO,  Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and AC/DC (among other rock/hair bands of the 80s) are in the top 10 of all time.    .38 special and Huey Lewis and the News and ZZ top were right up there as well and the list goes on and on and on....   I still pretty much ONLY listen to that type of music today since do not care for the new stuff out now or even in the 1990s and more current.  I am stuck in the 80s for life you could say?

Long story.

I liked the song "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.  So, on a trip to Canada around the Great Lakes, I made a stop at White Fish Bay.  I enjoyed it.  I played the song when I was on a business trip with a gentlemen from Canada.  He said in Canada, they called him "Four Cord Good" because he only used four cords in his songs.

So, I had a cassette tape (many yeas ago) with a song on it that I never knew the title of.  On the tape the song ended before it really finished.  It was only recently I found out the name of the song and heard the whole think.

I still like it.

I also like this one as well.

"Music From Big Pink"-The Band-One of the great first releases in modern rock music history.  You should listen to it if you loved "The Weight".
My buddy called me at home and told me to get over to his house right away.  When I got there he had this album cued up and ready to play.  Listened to it twice and we agreed that something big was on there.

I still only play and listen to music up until the hair bands died. Some pop is OK, but not a real fan. As for rap, never. I still love bands like:  Boston, Chicago, Three Dog Night, Uriah Heep, Styks, Creedence, Frigid Pink, Skynyrd, Allman Bros, southern rock in general. type stuff. The Stones, REO also fall into my likes category.

When it comes to country I like Little Texas, Travis Tritt and Darius Rucker, country rock type stuff. New so called country isn't country, it's pop. Not a fan at all. Country has gone to pot to. Music is like oil, it's what you like.
