You'll get used to the tank pretty quick... Congrats on the new ride and thanks for sharing the videos.  As previously mentioned, you may want to check out the link for petcock testing. I had done a few over the years and never had any issues. My last go round, everything went smoothly, got it all buttoned up and sure enough... it would flow at all stations. That and remember the clear, unkinked tank breather tube. |

The petcock is a very simple valve mine wasn't closing fully and the membrane is more or less shot. I can get it to work be no way I would trust it so I simply ordered a new one. I had to drain the oil as well. It should be fun putting it all back together. I just received new timing belts as well hope to get it running again soon.]

A suggestion whilst you have the tank off...
Check the air cleaner, and make sure that the PO did not not (that is correct) replace the o-ring that seals the air box lid.
If he left it out, you will never know until next time (1 year, 2 years, 10,000 or 20,000 miles) you go to change the air filter and you say "How the heck did all this dust get in here?".

I would say it is likely that is has never been changed but it is possible that the mechanic might have done it last year. The bike had 3600 miles on it and it was garage kept always.

with under 5K miles no need to replace air filter for sure or spark plugs or timing belt more than likely.

Rolling the dice with an air filter is mush safer the the timing belt!
For under $40 I bought both belts they showed up today which is about a 2 day delivery works for me!

I forgot, so I had to modify this Welcome to the site. That's a beautiful bike. Mine looked just like that one, 19 years ago. Be very careful on the belts. When you take the old ones off the valve springs tend to move the cams.
Is this where it helps that you take the plugs out? -Mike I believe the value springs will move the cams, plugs in or out. Removing the plugs will help to turn the motor over by hand to check alignment. |

9 screws and 3 mins? I'd check the air filter. Just to confirm what pago cruiser stated. |
