Ok after some sleep. Whew. So on the way home there were three separate soakings. One the first day while me and Keith and Bill were together. And the second day after I broke off for home there were two more. These were nothing short of under water scuba driving. Big fat rain drops that make seeing the road difficult. Think like wearing your helmet in the shower in the Bathroom and looking directly into the water flow. The good thing was all three times we (and I) drove out of the rain with enough time for the sun and wind to dry things out.
However, the adventure didn’t end when I got home! So I gave the bike a quick wash. It wasn’t as dirty as I expected. I guess the HEAVY rain cleaned the roads some. When wiping her down I noticed the boot was off the swing arm. Holy crap. All I could think of was all that water pouring in the swing arm.
So I quickly removed the drive train and there was a very little amount of water in there but worth the looking. Re greased everything and put it all back together in an hour or so.
Then, seemed like hours later. More like 30 to 45 minutes of tough struggling, the boot finally let me get it completely seated on the swing arm. The technique that worked was to put it on the swing arm side first by turning it inside out and then unfolding it onto the swing arm. It took several trys. Put away the tools mopped the floor with mean green and then the adrenaline from the ride left me and I felt like one of those 18 wheelers ran me over.
But, the bike is clean the rear has fresh grease and that dang blasted boot is secure.
Next adventure!

Chris, I was hoping to at least shake your hand before Inzane was over. Oh well, maybe another time. Best wishes for continued improvement in health.

We left Roanoke around 9am yesterday with the intention of riding the BRP and Skyline Dr on our way back north, taking our time and spending another night on the road. Well, we did the northern part of the BRP, but decided to skip the Skyline and make the dash home. We left the BRP at 1230, and rolled over the Sagamore Bridge at 0130. Good to be back on the Cape! Summertime blues.... Oh, for the good ole days....
