Still getting adjusted to living in Clayton, NE Georgia. Being a 100 miles closer to some parts of the SE has really been a game changer when deciding where to ride to. What would have been a 207 mile one way ride from my old home in Roswell is now, TA-DA, 90 miles one way. So up and on the road at 9a.m. having fueled up at the gas station just 1 mile away from me.  Plus there's no 8 to 6 to 4 lane crap to fight traffic and stop lights. I'm straight into this on Warwoman Rd. The following is just a small sample of the smiles to be had on this road. At the end of Warwoman turn right and ride south on Hwy 28. I could have posted more photos but they would have looked like the ones above. It's a tough life but someone has to ride these roads. Hwy 28 and north on Hwy 107. This is just as curvy as a mash up of Gina, Raquel and Sophia but with some rough grooves from when the DOT chip sealed this road 5 or 7 years ago. The unwary may think they've got a rear flat.  Along 107 there's a short section of state Rd 1343 (maybe) that links with what becomes NC 281. In SC - yep, this a 3 state ride today - there's a good overlook giving views of Lake Jocassee.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Jocassee |

281 merges with Hwy 64 the main route from Franklin NC to Hendersonville, NC. Tourist traveled it is getting some straightening meaning the current road surface has been let go and is terrible in parts.    it's only about 6 miles of this before I turn left onto Hwy 215. This is a zip, zap, zoom ride up to the BRP.  One minor hiccup with a new bridge being put in palce.  |

At this point the camera battery died leaving me wearing it around my neck like a lead weight. The Brp is beautiful. Anyone who has driven/ridden and disagrees has to have a heart of stone and a soul of lead. After lunch headed south on the BRP I took a side road up to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Balsam_Knob https://youtu.be/lRkzeamwivYThat's the BRP below  Then southwards to Hwy 215 south. A turn west on to Charley's Creek Rd takes me to Hwy 107 again. South towards Lake Glenville but a detour over the top of the lake via Pine Creek Rd leads to Walnut Creek Rd which empties out on to Hwy 64 Franklin/Highlands. I toss a mental coin and turn towards Highlands. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! Wrong choice as I'm behind a white mini van with a Kentucky licence plate that finds it impossible to keep up to the posted speed nor between the whit eline on the right and the center line. I know I could have pulled over and waited but i'm always inclined to stick behind the devil I know than risk getting stuck behind an unknown. All the bloody way to Highlands passing multiple place to pull over to allow the traffic behind them to pass by. The ride behind waterfall access on 64 is still closed following a rock collapse a few years ago. South to Dillard and home for an inbound trip of about 93 miles. It aint the quantity it's the quality and today my quality basket overflowed. About 40 minutes after I got home this blew through Clayton. Great report! I share your sentiment about the BRP... anybody who doesn't like it must have a heart of stone and a soul of lead... One of my favorites in all the world I've ever seen and/or ridden! Thanks for posting the story and the pics!!!

South Carolina should call this " Christmas Tree Lake " IMO . I've rode by here several times over the years….. Mike is this the lake you posted years ago that had the headstones under water ?  |

My brother and I rode a small section north of Roanoke last week. Nice scenery but not as curvy. Some day I would like to ride one end to the other.
We've rode the entire 469 miles of The Blue Ridge Parkway many times and time is always a issue if wanting to do it on a weekend. For us we bust ass up the super slab and spend the night in Waynesboro, Va and hit the BRP at mile post 0 . You can do it in two days however three is much better if you like checking out the overlooks. Sparta, NC is a good mid-stream stop its where we do " The Meet In The Middle Ride " every year. Picture below taken at Raven Roost at mile post 10 one of my favorite overlooks.  |

We live over in Seneca, SC and ride the roads you listed just yesterday. Had lunch at Hiawassee and took 64 to Franklin, 23 to Clayton, Warwoman to 28 and then home. Message me and we can meet up sometime.

I know that in VA they are putting this crap over pavement that doesn't need anything done to it and it's worse after they finish that it was before they started. It seems that the Federal Government can't do anything without Effing it up. Some Senator or Congressman's son in law probably owns the paving company. |
