I am going to do another fall ride the weekend AFTER Columbus Day

That would be ride on the 12th and big ride on the 13th.  We would miss the Fort Montgomery re enactors as they are Columbus weekend

Reason is that with this warming trend although the leaves are peak in the Catskills they are not so great down here in Ossining and I want to let all of you see the bright reds and orange leaves.

Can I get a count on who would be interested in coming to the Hudson Valley this year?  and if that weekend is good or Columbus day weekend is better for you?

Need to set up my block for hotel real soon

Look forward to some more good times, good roads and good eats

Oss, my calendar is showing that Columbus Day Weekend is Oct 6-8 this year.

That means you're talking about doing your ride on the 12th - 14th. (You must've fixed the dates while I was typing my reply)  Embarrassed

I could do either weekend, but Columbus Day weekend would probably be easier.

The best that I can do right now is to say put me down as a definite maybe.

It depends mostly on if I can find anyone willing to make the trip with me.

I'm not much on the idea of doing a 1,400 mile round trip unless someone is tagging along.

I'll have to see what's available or time off. But either weekend is good for me (I think)

I would be interested if it was the week after Columbus Day because I already have a 4 day trip set for Columbus Day weekend.

Trish and I would love to come up and ride your nice roads and visit. Put us down as maybe. Not sure on work yet. Have taken a lot of days off. Will keep an eye on your post for dates and see if they can let me off one more day this year that isn’t already committed.

What's your cutoff date for booking the hotel? I have a couple more work trips to NY this year and might try to schedule one of them to coincide with that weekend. Would be cool to join in a ride there.

I'm a definite maybe, those should work.  I may head up to to my sister's place in Woodstock VT, then swing down for your ride, then down to the FCR.  I'll have to see if Jig and his sister kin make it.

Evan,
Linda and I are thinking of heading up also. BUT, a lot depends on her vacation schedule, we will not know if the dates are available until after she returns to work (school) returns in September.

Evan, like I said to you in Roanoke, looks like work is going to be heavy this fall, which is good.

The least I'll be able to do is ride down early Saturday morning and get 2 days ridning in.

Looking forward to it.

You checking out hotels yet?

Rides will leave from 13 Tappan Terrace Briarcliff Manor unless posted otherwise.  Please have tanks topped off and bladder empty
Cheap gas at gas station on left at North State Rd light less than a mile from my house.

Working on the hotels today to get best price for block of 10 rooms

Scouting rides will be in end of September to make sure all roads (esp 106 and cliff road) are open as I have several routes in my head that I want to do but want to check mileages etc

I dont recommend meeting up on the route unless you want to spend an indeterminate amount of time just waiting as I have been known to switch roads on a whim  Nanuet to my house is 20 minutes on a SAT morning  Just go up Saw Mill North to Taconic split to 9A-100 exit  Right on Chappaqua Rd left on 1st street

I am waiting for one more hotel to call back before setting final hotel but can tell you it will probably be The Comfort Inn.  Rooms have fridge and clean. Free use of NY Sports Club Gym next door if anyone needs to work off ice cream or beer. complimentary breakfast.

The nicest area and cheapest rate so far is the Comfort Inn and they are right next to a diner and Appleby's as well as 300 feet off the Saw Mill Parkway exit on route 9A  less than five minutes from my house    Trying to get rate below 130 plus tax but think I hit the wall there.  We will need 10 rooms booked. Can we get that?

Will keep you all in the loop and should have it nailed down by Monday afternoon

Evan,

I have the 12th & 13th on my calendar....might only come in for the big ride on the 13th, we'll see, but I enjoyed the ride last year (riding in early with Stan).  I will keep my eye on the posts to see how things progress. I missed Inzane this year, but am looking forward to this ride!!

Oss,
I am not going to be able to make it this year. This work assignment in New Zealand is lasting longer than originally thought. Right now, I don't see being back in the States for more than a couple of weeks at a time until after the first of the year in 2019. Our daughter is getting married in September in the Grand Tetons Nat'l Park, so that time commitment has already been made.
It really too bad. I was hoping to make it three years running, eating more ice cream and learning more of the area history from you. Oh yeah, and riding home on that particular Sunday has been a downpour rolling down the NJ Turnpike...

It is going to be the Comfort Inn.  We checked out the rooms and it is the safest, cheapest and closest to Ossining.

Ironing out the fine print for the hotel this week. Rate will be 130 a night plus tax. For NYC suburbs in October, that is awesome indeed

I will start a new thread with the info by the end of this week.

Hope to have enough interest to expand the block past 10 rooms.

Big ride Saturday, small ride Friday for those who come early and Sunday for those heading northeast to the covered bridges of Connecticut, Dutchess county farm roads and BBQ
