I wonder if it is possible to institute a voluntary moratorium on any hateful, devisive, political posts on Sundays ? Seems like one day without would do us good. I put forth the motion that Sunday’s are dedicated to talk of riding, motorcycles, rainbows, and unicorns.

Lets be clear Meat, although we are about as far apart on political issues as we can be, I'm sure you are a good guy. I hope one day to meet you in person and we could laugh at the back and forth we do here. Although I doubt we could agree on much except maybe a good steak and riding, but that could be enough. |

This is one scripture and words that God gave to Moses that is in the Ten Commandments. Gen. 2:2; Ex. 20:11; 31:17 are a few more places in scripture.
Exo 20:8 “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Exo 20:9 You have six days each week for your ordinary work,
Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you.
This is why the Jews still observe Saturday as the Sabbath. Sunday being the first day of the week and Saturday being the last day. Our calendar and times are set on the Torah or Jewish laws. To make the US more of a secular nation they changed BC/AD to CE/BCE the BC/AD notes the time of our calendar in marked reference to Before Christ then the year of our Lord now they changed it to common era and before common era. Its in our fabric of society that we are a Christian nation
God never changed this, and there is no specific command on this.
Man and some say the church decided on Sunday as the day of worship. The churches reasoning was it was the day that Jesus rose from the dead and when He did we had a new and better covenant than the old covenant.
The idea is also given that we are under grace and not the law also. There actually is no scripture the says that we are supposed to change the day of worship in scripture.
Rom 14:5 In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable.
Rom 14:6 Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God.
We celebrate Easter Sunday and if you remember when Jesus was crucified and taken down off the cross on Friday since the Sabbath/Saturday was a special Sabbath and the priests did not want anyone on the cross. So they broke the legs of the two thieves but fulfilling scripture they did not break Jesus legs and instead pierced Him in the side and water flowed out, fulfilling scriptures in His death as well as life.

I amend my motion to more accurately describe the desired effect. I will name this proposed legislation MH 104. Here to for on Sunday's the membership of the VRCC (regardless of up to date dues) shall voluntarily refrain from the posting of devisive, angry, condescending posts. With the understanding of the Jewish tradition that a new day begins at sundown, pent up anger and vitriol may resume sundown Sunday. (Kind of like the movie High Noon, but we will refer to it as Bloody Sundown). Everybody retreat to their political parties and prepare for a vote. I believe we will vote via one of those 1-900 numbers. |

From a practical view, when I was in the Army Medical Corps, we had Conscientious Objectors, in this case Seventh Day Adventists, who were given Saturday off. As a result, they missed all of the formal Saturday inspections and the BS associated with that.
On Sunday, they were 'on duty' and had 'guard duty' in the day room. That po'd the rest of us.
That was stateside duty, didn't apply in Korea.

Those who are at home and on their computers on a Sunday are going to be in a grumpy mood because there's some reason they aren't doing something like that.  Many Christians consider Sunday to be their "Sabbath", as they try to use it as God intended the Sabbath to be used, for rest and for worship. Another common term for the Christian Sunday "Sabbath" is the Lord's Day, which I personally prefer. We (the family I lead) try to sanctify Sunday several ways: 1. by abstaining from non-worshipful media before noon, 2. by attending our congregation's service of worship, 3. by spending recreational time together, occasionally missing church to do this, and 4. by refraining from non-essential work. |
