Need Flight Booking Tips and Tricks

Trying to find flights to and from Italy. Coming home, the itinerary has us leaving from Genoa. These flights were $1000 pp
yesterday
. Today they are $750 pp. (and they make 2 stops)
Are there deals on Tuesdays??? Will they get more expensive in the evening? I recall rumors about buying tickets on certain days, does this still crap still apply? Do you think they will get cheaper or should I just bite it and purchase.
BTW, no matter what I pay now, I'm gonna feel like I got ripped off with such big differences in prices from one day to another (25% in this case).
Thanks.

Some good info (With links to even deeper info in the article) on when/how to buy the cheapest tickets:
http://www.businessinsider.com/best-time-to-buy-flights-2018-4#for-when-youre-flexible-4
Deeper dive info -

My personal technique is to book when I think it's best, and then NEVER EVER LOOK AGAIN! It's just not worth my sanity to see the prices have gone $50 lower 3 days later. (Even if there might be the possibility I could have the smug satisfaction of seeing they've gotten $300 more expensive instead.)

Just flew in May from Detroit to Rome, direct flight, roundtrip, on Delta with Comfort Seat upgrade at roughly $1,500 per ticket. $750 sounds great if you don't mind the two stops !
Have heard Tuesday is best day to book flights and also later in evening or very early morning but have no way to prove it one way or the other.
Where are you going in Italy? Where flying into?
Have also heard it can be cheaper to fly out of Toronto - neighbor flys to Scotland to visit family and swears by the Toronto route as being best price for HIM.
100% agree with Serk - once you book it - don't look back ! Prices will fluctuate but you never know when or by how much.

I fell in love with Cinque Terre watching a Rick Steves show about 7 or 8 years ago. Never forgot it. Sept is our 20 year anniversary so I gotta do something bigger than usual.
First Florence, then Cinque Terre, then Sestri something, then Genoa.

Excellent choices.....never been to Cinque Terre but on my bucket list. Did the Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome, Positano 16 day trip in 2006. Did a Greek Island cruise out of Rome last May and added 3 days in Rome at the beginning.
I was in the Army stationed in Naples long ago so I had a chance to visit Rome MANY times - one of MY favorite cities BUT, it has REALLY become crowded.
IF we go back, it will probably be in the northern half and include Cinque Terre, Lake Como, back to Venice, Verona, Genoa etc.
Hope you have a great time and congrats on stepping up for your 20th ! Good man !
