Friday I’m driving a dump truck back to the town garage, there was a woman in a big hurry behind me in an SUV (Stupid Useless Vehicle). She had been riding my ass for a couple of miles. Put my right blinker on & slowed to make a right turn.
I see a white HD waiting to turn left onto the street I’m on. As I slow, he accelerates hard and pulls in front of me to turn left. I think not smart, since he can’t see thru my truck.
Then I remember little Miss in a hurry and look in my left mirror. S H I T, she’s beside me, passing me.
Neither of them can see the other. I lay on the air horn and slam on the brakes, not wanting to hit the aftermath of the collision.
Must have scared the crap out of both of them, they stopped within a foot of each other.
I made my turn and left them staring at each other.

Can’t be too careful,
Craig

I see it many times a day.  I will avoid left turns now just because of the idiots that "must" pass me on the shoulder.  It's a shoulder, not a passing lane!!

I can't for the life of me (literally?) see where it says that when one car turns on their directional light, all the safe passing laws go away. uglystupid2

You’re right Andy, our town was originally set up as the county seat. Main Street is almost 2 lanes wide, but is marked as 1 each way. Soon as there’s a blinker on, all safe passes go out the window.
Last couple years we’ve had 2 pedestrians hit because the traffic stops to let them cross and Einstein zips up the right of the cars, never seeing the person till they’re on their hood.
Can’t fix stupid...
