My local 24/7 weather channel-on the 5s-showed that West Plains Mo.-I am 24 miles north of W P-had 22 days of over 90 degrees F!  Lips Sealed Most of the other times we were in the high 80s with the exception of yesterday in the 70s. I believe the days that were under 80 could be counted on one hand. Some days when I wanted to use the cage-it parks out front and the old elm tree has no branches left-and the drivers side faces east-I'd walk out to open the doors to let it-relative term-cool out a mite-stepping out on my front porch IS like a hammer blow on my entire body. And like my weather guy stated and I mentioned in my ride post-kickin off August with at LEAST a week and a half of 90+ temps!  Undecided Course I also KNOW to be careful of that which you wish for!  Roll Eyes And in-What-3 months or so-give or take-I WILL be needin the dad blamed furnace!  uglystupid2 Course when it near on 90 F kinda difficult to correlate NEEDING heat!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

Bunch of wimps, all of you  Grin 120* yesterday. I have a pic of my blue and white Standard by the bank digital thermometer at 128*, but it’s on photobucket and I can’t retrieve it.

The 80's / 90's degree heat isn't so bad - but when the wet bulb thermometer temp is 65+ it's a killer.

I'll never forget getting off of a C-140 at Clark AFB. I was drenched within steps off the plane.

I will take 40's over 90's any day of the week.  Never really seen more than a few days over 100 in temps and never want to, no thanks.

For those of you living in 100+ degree temps,  do not know how you get used to it ever...

They claim say AZ is a dry heat, but HOT is HOT regardless to me.....

We as a culture tend to create our own weather wimpiness.  Spending time in your businesses, homes, and cages with air conditioning set to refrigerator temperatures causes our bodies to experience a shock when encountering outside temps even close to our own body temperatures.  When being "in the wind" a big windscreen only intensifies the impact of warm temperatures.

I'm sixty-seven years of age.  My ideal riding temps for distance are 90 - 95 degrees F.  I can ride all day in 100 degree weather.

In my younger (growing up) years we did not have air conditioning and we thrived.  I don't believe you need to live without AC but if you'll use it to cut off the edge of the heat rather than driving your environment to refrigerator temps you'll find yourself more healthy and more flexible.

I ride without a windscreen on my Standards and an eight inch screen on my Istate.  I won't tell you you have to go to that level, but if you'll at least shrink your shield to allow some air to pass over your body you'll find yourself able to more readily tolerate high temperatures.

Hydrate.  Your body should be 50% water.  Drinking enough will make you more functional not only in the heat but in the world in general.

I don't smoke and I don't chew and I don't run around with girls that do.  Oh, wait, that's another story.

O2S, I feel for you, but for a different reason.  We have had smoke issues for the last 3 week.  According to the rating system we have been in the Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy for most of this time.  Even a few day of Hazardous   Plus temps in the upper 90's (Medford Valley has been in the triple digits).  The folks, who know, don't recommend being outside for more than 20 minutes without a mask and no exercising.   I can feel my sinus tighten up and eyes burning after 10 minutes.

So no riding for that time.  Real pain.  I can deal with temps, just not the smoke.  Had too much smoke with younger fighting wildfires.

Smoke I DUZ relate to! I was a Volunteer Fireman in another life. Structure fires generally with the Scott AirPak. Grass and forest fires-well ya did the best ya could! Fairly SURE in That smokey enviorment my breathing issues would REALLY come to the front. RIDE SAFE.
