I have a friend heavy into roll racing...at sanctioned events. Rolling 1/2 and 5/8 mile. He has a 1200hp Nissan GT-R. Pretty expensive racing. There is another GT-R with nearly 3000hp....again, not on the street

This would be SO much better without the "music" (You've been warned) but hey, I recognize most of these roads, some are just a few miles from my house...

Idiots. What happens when they wreck and kill someone? I have the same respect for these idiots as I have for 90% of the zip splat riders. Take it to a controled area like a race park.

First off, let me say that I don't condone this behavior on the street but before we start ragging on these kids, you better be sure you have never street raced in you entire life.  Roll Eyes I know as a kid and as an adult, I have stepped on or twisted the throttle pretty hard while next to a foe.  cooldude If you say you have never ever done such a thing in your life, well then I guess you are a strange bird at best. Again, what they are doing is wrong, but most of us here are guilty of it too. Do not throw rocks when you live in a glass house! Just my two cents, for what it's worth to all the high and mighty here.

Yep, I bet most of us have done it in our youth.   While growing up, I lived in and around Inglewood, Gardena, Torrence, and Hawthorne California,(1954 - 1966).   Some of the coolest times ever to grow up in that area. Cruising and cool cars were what everyone did. Street racing was pretty normal. Usually done from a red light, lasting only a few seconds.  Never forget my good friends mom bought a 1965 GTO from Hertz. she was a lifetime employee of the company and I'm sure got a better deal than most folks. Anyhow, we took the car out Friday night, and he literally burned all the tread off the back tires that night. His mom was so pissed, they were new. She bought another new set of tires and the next Friday night, he did it again  Grin Grin  He should have been horse whipped. Oh the stupid stuff we do in our youth.

Me neither, but sometimes, in a weak moment, it happens without planning it (dreaming about it) first.

Weak moment!. I am running the slab last Thursday and an HD comes flying up the on ramp just as I go by. My Interstate is fully loaded (1200 lbs) two up rain clouds about to dump, I am running 80+. I make sure I never see him again. My bad.

the 1,500 hp and up cars are not driven by "kids"....well O.K.......25-60 year old kids who can afford to build or buy such beasts Evil....at 2 -4  am  traffic isn't too heavy on the outlying loops around D/FW and these guys aren't idiots uglystupid2..there is some serious cash and work involved in building/owning such a machine.....they just want 1/4-1/2 mile traffic free spot to step on it for less than 10 seconds..they are not weaving thru traffic at 200 +. police They just go a lot faster than when we goose the Valks for our 8-10 seconds Cheesy...spend some time in Germany on the Autobahn..a 1910 version of our Interstate and there are sections with no speed limits Shocked....and yes a track day at C.O.T.A. in Austin is multiple 20 minute sessions of all out as best you can--the 2 very long fast straightaways make it arguably the finest race  track in the world laugh--merely $400 for the day Sad..and 4 hours of travel each way from Dallas..I bet after 4 sessions you will be exhausted from hanging on smitten...I was.
