I rode BMW motorcycles for 20 yrs or so.   The BMW (BMW Owners of America) has a national Emergency Registry for BMW riders.  If you have motorcycle problems while on the road you can take your booklet and look up the town you are in and seek help from local participating BMW riders.     I was in the registry as having short term lodging, tools, some parts, and a large shop to work in.  Also I had a trailer and would go 50 miles to pick up stranded members.   I never got called.  Also you only give your phone number and town, no address, so if someone calls for help you can do a drive by to ck out the person before committing.    It was a comforting tool to have with you when on the road.

Anyone ever thought about doing this for the VRRC?

One of the reason’s I’ve been a GWRRA member for over 20 years was to get the Goldbook which is a llisting of all members and things each person was willing to do for any brokedown rider. This is updated every year.

I carry my current issue, and give away my old one, each year. I'm in there too, as a contact. Don't know what I can offer, unless I get a call, but at least know the locals, and can get someone help, even if it's from myself.

We've helped a few riders over the years.  Several of our friends have used it as a POC for a specific area for information which turns into rides and dinner and a tour guide.  Like with the VRCC most GWRRA members are really nice folks and love to talk about bikes and general stuff.  The Gold book gives my wife and I a little more comfort when riding in areas we don't know anyone for hundreds of miles.  We keep one on each bike and the cars.  They don't post your phone number unless you agree.
